We don't know what other prospects the Texans have in mind, and we all know the various holes the team has to patch up. $6 million is pretty steep for a 35 year old safety? Will his production be better than last year? What if you can get Kerry Rhodes for $4million?

Ed's a peculiar character. As a Ravens fan, I know how confusing Ed can be. He's thrown out talks about retirement in the past and followed it up with talks of having several years of football left in him.

He's his own agent, for better or worse. He's said he feels he should be paid both for what he brings today and what he has done in the past, though it's really evident that he knows that is not going to be the case.

If he is serious about the $6 Million and Houston or another team is willing to give it to him, then I am sure the Ravens are going to let him go. I love Ed, and while it would be terribly sad to see him in a different uniform, he does not play at a $6 Million per year level today and he certainly won't tomorrow.

Brilliant mind but battered body, unfortunately.

Yeah, I'm gonna say this is not a good sign. I'm sure his prior engagement he left for is the Baltimore Ravens.

The #Texans aren't sitting on their hands waiting for Reed, BUT his decision will come before they get moving on some other guys.

So they are sitting on their hands waiting for Reed? :p

We may have dodged a bullet guys. You don't win the Superbowl in free agency. Having more cap room is not a bad thing.

I don't understand some of you about being worried if Ed Reed signs here or not. Yes, he is a future HOF, but he's 34 freaking years old. Signing him won't make the Texans the team to beat, and they still have other positions to address such as WR, OT, OLB and others....

Source says Texans were closer to $5 million per year with Ed Reed, not $6 million to $7 million avg. he's looking for. Talks to continue.

Texans think Reed is only worth Glover Quin type money.

If that's true, then i think we all have a pretty good idea why Reed tweeted "#knowyourworth"
