Well I'm combining my internet research along with the knowledge I've gained after having 4 knee surgeries and 2 elbow surgeries. The tear may be minimal, but the fact that they repaired the tear means they had to injure other tissue to cause bleeding in order for the repair process to take place. This wasn't a simple debridement from what I have read. It is good that it wasn't but repair of cartilage just needs a few months to heal. The bottom line is that he is approaching 35 and he had surgery on a joint that had major surgery before. If he was 25 and this was his first hip surgery then I would feel pretty good about him making it back for the start of the season....but it isn't.
Was the surgery even on the same hip as before? Sorry, I'm just tired of all the chicken littles on this forum.
I'm sure he didn't. That would hurt his value. Perfectly timed on his part. Get paid, and surgery right in time to miss non mandatory camp.
That's actually true. The Texans didn't pay for INT's during the regular season. If he plays well and gets us a higher seed, that's just icing. The cake is helping us beat New England in the playoffs.

It's gonna be okay...really. If it was a broken bone then he may miss some time. But he's been hurt before (dont ask him either) and will have the time to heal over the next few months. Relax. We knew this is a 2 to maybe 3 year contract with his mentoring skills to Swearinger highly valued. It is what it is.
I'm a bit concerned we signed this guy having no idea he needed surgery. I think I'm more concerned with that than the fact that he actually needs surgery.
They were so excited that they were signing a future hall of famer that they forgot to give him a physical.
Pretty easy to hide such a thing, unless you're getting an MRI of your entire body or something. Hopefully this won't hurt him on the field, otherwise, we got played. Echoes of Tony Boselli/Ahman Green.
it's Ed Reed. He'll pick up the system quickly; he'll be fine. I just want him to be limber enough via preseason/workouts to not get hurt this year
It's the other hip.. “He has had this issue on the other side before, so once it started happening, that's when we got aggressive in what we needed to do to get him ready to play this season." http://www.houstontexans.com/news/a...-surgery/da5d5247-b619-4920-86b6-ffc772585adf
