The comment was made in regards to Williams being a cancer. Cancers dont get rings. Thats what a cancer does, disrupts the team, preventing winning.... But Bibby was a great upgrade to Williams....
I like how most people think that we need an athletic PF, and I agree, we do need that. However, looking at our draft pick and what slim pickings are left, the only PF's that might fall in the 20's and are worth considering are Tiago Splitter and Sean Williams. Tiago is injury prone, and while williams is athletic as hell, he could be have an eddie griffin attitude. On the other hand, there are a lot of solid PG's that could fall our way, Acie Law if we are lucky, has good leadership and is a good floor general, Pruitt who has the athleticism and will probably do well under adelman, Stuckey, could also be our mike james off the bench.
what are you basing this assumption on?...when vspan bricked 90% of his open jumpers or when he was committing one of his luther like turnovers....I'm not saying that he won't be good...and I think he deservers another shot, but your love for this guy before he has proven anything is kinda weird...you tout him as a starting PG and there is nothing that backs it up yet..only what you are hoping for........you seem to have some extra rooting interest in Vspan's career, and for that matter a personal vandetta against JVG...I guess now that JVG is gone and you don't have him to pick on, you are starting your new crusade....VSPAN All Star Guard
Nah, I just like the way he plays. Tough, hard, and a gifted passer. I think once he gets on the floor for some consistent minutes he will flourish. He surely struggled last year, but some of that is due to the situation he was placed in and the lack of comfort with his teamates and him. I just think he can be really good, time will tell though, but I see something there... DD
Excellent!!! Finally someone with a mock draft who has the common sense to see us picking someone at a position we need. I'd rather a PF first, though it looks more likely that Sean Williams is gonna go higher and I'm against Josh "Charmin Ultra" McRoberts. We can also get a reliable PG this offseason. But I'll take Pruitt in a heartbeat.
This would help Yao's game so much. I like Hayes, but Juwan is a slow, soft 4 that is out of place and should be a slow , plodding 3..... We are the weakest in the West at the 4 - if not in the NBA
BWAHAHA. "Bizarro League Pass" is a phrase that I will definitely bring up from time to time. That's great. Even V-Span's much vaunted "great defense" pretty much consisted of him very enthusiastically bodying up on guys until a foul had to be called. You'd think under JVG he'd have learned a bit more than that. Maybe he was too busy whining and pouting.
Some pretty good suggestions in this thread. Here's my thoughts on some of those guys: Splitter -------- <i>Splitter doesn't have a buyout from his contract with Tau until the summer of 2008, so there's a chance a team will have to wait on him a year</i> http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/player?playerId=18838&draftyear=2007 The Rockets need some immediate help. I can't see them taking a chance on their first round pick not being available for a year. Pruitt ----- <i>Negatives: Injuries gave him a slow start to the season. May be a little more of a combo guard than a pure point guard</i> http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/player?playerId=18856&draftyear=2007 I haven't seen him play, but if he really is a combo guard rather than a true point guard, then I'd pass. Glenn Davis ----------- Alot is being made of Davis' weight, but I think his draft stock hinges on how tall he measures out to be. If he's close to his listed 6' 9", then he's a 1st rounder. If he's closer to 6' 7", then he's a 2nd rounder. Sean Williams -------------- Houston kid.Hard to figure where he'll go. He's long and very athletic. Elite shot blocker. Not much offense and should be a better rebounder. Numerous off the court issues. The NBA loves athletic guys with size, so I wouldn't be surprised if he were off the board by Houston's pick. Josh McRoberts ----------------- Has some negatives, but he's probably as good as you're going to get if he lasts to 26. He won't be a star, but he should be solid. Nick Fazekas ------------ Can score and rebound. 20.4pts, 11.1 reb on 56.8% shooting (including 43% from 3pt land). 4 year player, 1st team All-American. Not very strong. Can he play the 4 in the NBA without bulking up? Is he too similar to Novak (not quite the shooter, but a much better rebounder)?
I like Pruitt, a lot. He's not a pure PG, but the Rockets have one of those. Pruitt is a scorer, plain and simple. If the Rockets keep Rafer, his best use is a starter who's only on the floor when Yao is on the floor. Pruitt would be a solid change-of-pace back up. He can get to the rim, but better than that, he can get his defender on his heels, pull up mid-drive and hit the 10-15 footer. That's becoming a lost art in the NBA today.
Don't know but that's a sweet name...every time he scores we can say he just dropped another Ante-Tomic Bomb!!! -V
This is true, but if you look at adelman's offenses he would prefer a passing PF that is more of a wing type player. He used ot use Stoyak at 4 when webber was on bench, i think he will do alot of that w/ novak and hayes seems to fit well if we can teach him to pass.
Whats crazy is Simien was looking right at us in the face and the rox drafted head. Still cant understand that.
C'mon Lee...Shaq was hurt, Zo was aging before our eyes, 'Toine was having the worst season of his career with 8.5 ppg and Haslem only averaged 31 mpg....and the Heat played Simien 93 total minutes for the season? He wasn't the answer then and he surely isn't the answer now. And further..Simien hardly equates to "athletic".
managed to find this on A. Tomic for anyone who is interested. http://www.nbadraft.net/antetomicinterview001.asp
