The thing I love about the Celtics is their mental toughness. Tatum, Brown, Horford, Smart, etc. are guys who don't shy away from the moment and stand up to competition even in tough territory. What's really impressive to me is their road wins, which is usually where even good teams break, but they didn't, and they didn't let demoralizing last second losses cause them to lose their focus or the series. If you look around the league, there aren't many teams that compare to their mental toughness. The Heat looked like they were imploding after two losses against the 76ers last round. I don't see them testing the Celtics at all. Suns are not as mentally tough as I previously thought, and as we've seen, veteran led teams like the Lakers are fragile and unable to handle pressure well at all. I don't know how we build a team up with that fortitude, but I'd love for the Rockets to some day have a roster that can show up like the Celtics in big games.
“The Celtics' 22 made threes is a record for a team in a Game 7. Previous record: LA Clippers, 20 three-point field goals made (June 6, 2021 vs. Dallas Mavericks).”
Giannis is probably the best player in the nba. But this just shows you how much luck is involved to actually win it all. Not even best player can sustain injuries to his second best player and win. He finally got Harden luck and this is the result. When your second best player always goes down how are you realistically expected to win it all. Last year no Harden and no Kyrie and they are champs. this year no Middleton. Second round exit.. Harden was concussed in game 6 versus spurs and he still gets killed for it. But don't worry the media will give Giannis a pass. Nike got it in the bag.
At this point . . . . . I am leaning SUNS v Celtics BUT Suns have to get by the Mavs . . . . The Mavs have impressed me . . . GGRRRRrrrr *bites my tongue* I think these playoffs are showing off COACHING Adjustments etc I want to see the SUNS go against the Warriors just to see CP3 against Curry Rocket River
the Sixers literally coulda had the greatest team of all time. But they ran Hinkie out and let Colangelo and Brand mess it all up.
Giannis with 53 TS% on the series and I dont even think he played bad. Man is a great great player, BUT......injuries you know. And since people like Giannis Im sure people will take note of it.
He avg 34/15/7 with great defense/effort. 36 turnovers in 7 games wasn't great though. And while 53% TS might seem bad, it's actually not when you realize the rest of his team shot UNDER 50% TS for the series.
Absolutely. Im not here to slander the man, because he doesnt deserve it. But..I just wish it would be afforded to other players. Like the defense by Boston might be all time level good.
