me too. i have my doubts about this ring. if it were somehow proven to be a real championship ring then HELL yeah, i'd buy it!!
I think it's time to take "world champions" off of the NBA rings. When a group of NBA players place poorly once again in the world basketball championships it just doesn't seem to fit any more.
Man! my previous boss' husband was the Rockets trainer back in 93-95 and he has the Championship ring, my boss brought it on my last day at work and i got to wear that ring from 9 to 5pm. man! let me tell you as a Rockets hardcore fan it felt soooo great to wear it!! it was an honor!!
No,it's not time to take World Champions off the ring. It NEVER will be. In fact,it probably never has been more appropriate due to the global expansion.
I disagree with you. The NBA isn't team USA, the NBA is filled with the best players in the WORLD, and the best players of each country plays in the NBA. Yao,Dirk,Gasol,Ginobili,Noicioni ect.. ect.. ect... As long as the NBA has the best players from all around the WORLD, the champions should be considered the World Champions. Thats my view
the 1995 rockets team would destroy any team in the world. if that team were the germans, we'd turn them into VW Bugs. if we played argentina..'dont cry for me argentina' if we played france, they'd crepe out the rockets championship teams are send from god. they could lose to no one.
Well then one should be changed...the World Championships winner is called the world champion and the NBA championship winners are called World Champions....we can't have two....how do you decide?
The NBA titlists will always be the best BASKETBALL TEAM in the world.Further expansion and the resulting better product has benefitted the League in a big way. There was a dropoff for awhile in fundamentals, chiefly when the high school kids and early candidates started coming in.Now,the infusion of foreign talent is(and has) been helping the Association get back to where it was.I think the Rockets or any other NBA champion would have a fairly easy time winning one of these WC.
And as the league evolves each year now the chances of any National All Star team beating an NBA Champ thats played 82 games and a full playoff plate dwindles.
this might get flamed, but if you ask me...if you took whatever team that won the NBA championship from whatever year and played them against the winner of the "World Championships"; other than possible "help" from the refs, the NBA team would blast the "World Champions". you can say what you will about USA's latest squad's, but there is always something to be said about chemistry and teamwork -- as well as shooting. any team that wins the NBA title, will have all of those in some form.
Without looking at who posted this, I read the first sentence of this thread and then said, "This is a tinman post." How much would Maxwell's ring be worth to you tinman?
Why would it hold any sentimental value to a guy, unless he won it for himself? If it was a girly-man that just wanted to look at it shine, then ok, but otherwise, show me the money.
Well,Calvin Murphy worked his a$$ off as a player for many years. He helped give the Rockets an identity and while Murph didn't win a title as a player,I'm sure that ring meant a lot to him.The guy earned it.Whatever your stance on the "deadbeat dad" stuff, his recent trial,or even if you didn't like him as a commentator,Calvin is and always will be a Rocket through and through. Of course Les tried to can him immediately, then came the public uproar, and he resumed his job. After all that's happened, there is NO WAY Les will ever bring Calvin back. I don't know exactly what happened in Calvin's personal life, but that ring should be bought by a friend and kept for him.
