No doubt that Hollinger is one of the best NBA analysts. He really crunches the numbers, but he doesn't let them overwhelm him. Sounds like a certain GM we know.
Jalen did say Brooks would have a breakout year. Not really that hard to predict given the circumstances.
I thought we'd win 50 games, but that was based on T-mac returning to the line-up and contributing. I think the team was headed for 50 wins but seemed to run out of steam in Jan...perhaps the guys were playing hard expecting T-mac to return and lead them into the playoff but when the drama unfolded it was a let down and things started to slip. In any case, I'm still glad to see we won 42+ games without having Yao, T-mac, or Artest in the lineup.
I personally pegged them at 30-35 games I believe when the season started. Given our record, I am pleasantly surprised. As for expecting T-Mac to contribute, I learned from last year to expect something out of him only if he is suited up and in the lineup AT tip-off.
I was one of the homers who thought we could sneak into the 8th spot. Oh, well, we've done well, not that it's much consolation.
Not exactly eating crow, but I did predict a 48-50 win season and a 4-6 playoff seeding. With our first 6-10 losses mostly decided by bad refereeing, I was not way off, especially in light of the then-miserable performances of the Suns and Jazz. However, I also thought the Spurs would be a major threat with the addition of Richard Jefferson. What I did not anticipate was the awful Rockets-like misfortune of the Blazers, the emergence of the Grizzlies and Thunder, and the miraculous turnaround of the Suns, and particulary the Jazz who basically won about 20 games in a row around midseason. If we had staved of 6-10 losses against woeful eastern conference teams (cf. 76ers, Pacers, Wizards and to a lesser extent, the Bulls) we would be right there.
I predicted 40-45 wins, but I predicted that the rockets were going to be on the playoffs in the 7th-8th spot. I thought Mcgrady was going to play good this season, but I was sooo wrong on that one.
Indeed. I can't seem to find it. Either none of the people showed up to say they're wrong, or my memory's really off on how many people thought we'd suck. I'm surprised everyone just commented on how they think we'd be a 40+ win team.
I predicted 45-48 wins. It looked like I was underestimating the team until January when opposing teams figured out the Rockets were playing 2-on-5 offense.
I said 40, plus or minus 3 games. Looks like my upper bound will be met with the victory vs. the hornets.
I predicted 33 wins for the Rockets without tmac and yao. I was just being realistic, but I'm extremely proud of this team to still manage a winning record.
I thought about 45-47 but I thought that we'd be in the playoffs. Overall, I think that this season went as well as we could have because I was still on that kool-aid from the season prior when I predicted that. If you asked me now, I would likely have said about 38, and then I would have been underestimating the team.
I cannot find the thread either, and I started the darn thing. I wonder what happened to it. In any case, I predicted 44 wins, which even with a win tonight, cannot be achieved. Regardless, it was a fun season, and this was an inspiring team to watch. These guys were the "Rudy" squad of the NBA. What a great group. To the players, coaches and management of the Houston Rockets: Well done! I salute you all!
I said that they will finish at .500, T-mac will not be a part of the team, and they WILL NOT trade Scola or Landry. So 2 out of 3 is not bad
