    Thanks.

I am doing ok.. kinda nervous that I am sorta running out of food now. I only got $5.15 left and have almost 8 days to go. My family is coming to visit me this weekend and they are going to go out to eat at least twice... I don't know what to do. It is going to be really hard to not to eat while they enjoy... i guess i can tell the restaurant owner about my situation and try to get free food by exchanging with PR effort.

When this is all over you should read Kafka's short story The Hunger Artist and let us know what you think of it.

If they're paying, why can't you eat?

The part of the rule is that I don't accept food from others unless the food is available to the public for everyone.

If worse comes to worse you could go visit a soup kitchen and stay within the rules. But that does seem to be missing the point of the soup kitchen.

I'd rather eat McDonalds every day than live on a $1 day.

So what does your family think of all this? Also, if you bring fliers, and maybe some other forms of endorsement, maybe the restaurant manager would be more willing to hook you up with something?? I'm not really sure if that falls into the spirit of this whole thing, but it would give exposure to your cause.

Asking for food from the owner seems like a violation of your rules...

But if you go to a place that has free chips and salsa, or bread, etc that would fulfill your requirements of it being free to everyone!

    Good luck!

Taking food from poor people who really need it is FAIL.

The bread jam and butter are free at La Madeleine. You could meet a friend for coffee and fill up on a snack there. You could also investigate coupon use. I don't use them myself but it is a perfectly legitimate way that a lot of people keep their costs down. I think Randall's does a lot of "triple coupon" promotions where they give you three times the cost of the coupon or something (someone else probably knows much more about how that works). I generally avoid this because coupons tend to be for the types of food I don't buy but at this point you only have a few days left. A neighbor used to do this and would leave the store with not only over $100 in groceries but the store paid HER about $10 or so. Of course, she would pick up things she didn't need at all like dog treats when she didn't actually own a dog (the treats went to our dog).

Go to a grocery store that sells fried chicken or other types of cooked food right as they are closing. See what they will sell you for a dollar or two before they throw it out.

I think you have to pass on eating out with the family or suspend your quest for a few days (and resume when they're gone). Scrounging food, or filling up on bread at a restaurant when you don't buy a meal seems to go against the spirit of what you're doing. You'd be the guy who 'quit' smoking, but still bums cigs from his friends.

Have you seen the food I've been cooking? It's not all that bad. Most of them are pretty good.

I am actually going to volunteer at the food bank giving out food to the homeless people in one night. Volunteers get to eat the same food for free during the event. I don't think this is violating the rule since the opportunity to volunteer is open to the public.

My dad thinks it is no problem since he was born and raised during Korean war. He had to go through the time when he had nothing to eat but potato for many months. They both really do not understand the buzz / viral social media marketing, so I got some explanation to do when they come.

Currently I'm at 167.5.. I started at 174, but my weight fluctuate from 169-174 at any given time.

bnb, I agree with you. Chips & Salsa are only for the customer who is actually going to spend money there, so I'm just going to attend the dinner meeting and not eat.

Please leave me a comment on my blog when you have time. Thanks : )

I am already thinking about next challenge as I think I could finish this campaign without a problem. I have good amount of food left.
Some of the challenges that I thought of that could be interesting.

    1. 2009 pull ups in 20 days
    2. 2009 three pointers while shooting around in 20 days
    3. Feed 100 people with $20.09
    4. Raise $2009 in 20 days
    5. Get 2009 fans on my Facebook fan page (i dont have one yet)

Which one do you think is the most impossible to accomplish? You can actually vote here.

Please suggest me if you can think of something more interesting. Thanks.

Go to Sam's Club or HEB and eat the free samples there. You could make a whole meal out of that.

I don't think you could feed 100 people with 20 bucks.

What changed in the past few days? On the 28th, you posted that you were running out of food and this posts indicates you have a good amount of food left.
