It's more than just injuries, unless those spurs are affecting every part of his shooting stroke. The techs are getting more and more ticky-tack; I'm waiting for Doc Rivers to get thrown out on purpose to prove a point.
This is David Stern's NBA. Zero consequences for officials combined with unlimited fines and suspensions for even the SLIGHTEST criticism of them has these guys believing they're untouchable. Until someone steps in and gives REAL consequences for these types of errors, they will keep happening. It won't happen as long as Stern is in power.
Ray must be hurt even worse than we know - and we already know bone spurs are quite painful. I've never seen someone's stroke drop off that badly though.
I just hope they remain consistent with these techs. WHEN Wade starts to look for that whistle and complain then they should stick to their consistency and give him a Tech too.
Ed Malloy is one of the worst refs in the history of the NBA. He gives out techs like people give out candy on Halloween.
I hope things change when Stern steps down, but his protege doesn't seem inclined to make any significant changes...then again, we'll have to wait for Mr. Silver to take over to see what might happen.
Understood, but the problem is a lot broader than one official's ineptitude. The Heat are the biggest whiners in the game, yet they have ZERO technicals tonight, even with Malloy there. For the playoffs, Heat opponents have 22 technicals... compared to six on Miami. We all know what the real problem is. It's the same issue that has plagued the NBA for at least the past 12 years (starting with the Shaq-Kobe Lakers).
Amazing that Boston only down 2 with this terrible officiating. Is Brandon Bass going to hit any open jumpers tonight?
Unwritten NBA rule: Any team with the following player on their team (Kobe Bryant, Lebron James) cannot be called for fouls and are not allowed to be touched. Any touching of these players results in a foul.
