I'm not watching any playoff game, but just checked the box score.......

    :01.1 DET - R. Wallace defensive rebound
    :01.1 CLE - A. Varejao missed a layup
    :01.1 CLE - A. Varejao offensive rebound
:01.9 CLE - L. Hughes missed a 10-foot jumper from the left wing
    :03.8 CLE - L. Hughes offensive rebound
:07.9 CLE - L. James missed a 7-foot hook shot in the lane

what a way to end the game.

Hughes had a legitimate shot there at the end -- a relatively clean 7-footer. They choked yet again.

And wtf was Varejao doing flopping on the defensive end there? That led to the Wallace winning jumper.

That was a clear flop but Rasheed gave him the elbow. It should be a foul no matter how bad Varegao's acting was. Rip had had his arm in Lebron's chest while he was driving. Again that's a foul and should but Lebron on the foul line.

Look ref should have known Lebron was going to drive and get hacked so they should be ready for the call. I have seen softer fouls get called and nothing on the last play of the game.

Larry Hughes is stealing money. What a worthless, gutless player. You can blame Brown for putting him back in the game but with 2 critical TOs and that missed bunny at the end he couldn't have done any worse. The Cavs need to dump him for free.

I don't feel sorry for LeBron but he has the sissiest teammates in the NBA. Plus he has a coach that is clearly overmatched. The Cavs need an experienced hand like Adelman more than the Rockets because their coach is substandard. They have less motion in their offense than we did under JVG. It's an ordeal every possession for them to score.

On the multiple replays i saw on lebrons final drive, he got fouled 3 times.
    BY THE SAME PLAYER.
That's just sad on the ref's part. And the pistons should be so grateful that the cavaliers arnt that experienced deep in the playoffs these days, because the cavs got 2 MORE CHANCES TO SCORE.
Cavs could've easily won games 1 and 2..and possibly sweep the pistons.. but its all in the book now. Cavs have pressure going back home, they gotta win the rest of the games.

Not even close. Dirk disappeared. LeBron still dominates the Cavs offense because everything goes thru him. If LeBron pulled a Dirk the Cavs would lose by 30.

After watching the replay, both commentators agreed that there wasn't a foul on Lebron's last drive.

The cavs are stupid for winding the clock all the way down then try to score. The refs were not gonna call a foul with 5 seconds left in the game, they usually swallow their whistles by then unless someone murders somebody.

The only thing I like about Mike Brown is he instilled a defensive mentality. Besides that, his offense is exactly as you said. What a miserable display in the second half, absolutely no adjustments. Forget getting other people involved. Put Lebron in the best position to succeed. He's the one of the best superstar passers (non-pg of course) and you can trust him to find the open guy when he's closed off. Giving him the ball at the beginning of the play is just asking all the Pistons to key in on him.

I thought the 12 point cushion going into the half was just what we needed. I figured the cushion would give the Cavs the lead in the final seconds needing the Pistons to tie/win. We ended up blowing our load early and needed to hang close and they STILL had a chance to win. Knowing the Cavs are a total of 2 shots and 5 seconds away from being up 2-0 is soul crushing.

I was watching this game and I kept thinking how the Pistons are so stacked. Probably the deepest front-line of any team in the league. And they're making key mistakes all over the game but just do enough to win barely against the Cavs. I don't like their chances against the Spurs.

anyone else think mike brown needs to be replaced?

    - changed the gameplan at halftime

    - bad call down the stretch (holding for one shot when your LOSING!)

    - gets a tech which could've cost the game. only down 1 with 1 second left...even with rip taking ft's...there was still a slight chance. not if you give DET 3 FT's... possibly down 4 you can't even tie.

I'm pissed. My gf wants to yak w/ me on the phone and I'm trying to watch the postgame. Finally I cut her off and watch it. There's no way that's not a foul. I don't care what the idiot TNT heads say, they've been idiots in the past there's no reason to listen to them now. I've seen enough basketball to know that gets called most of the time. Hell, how many times have we seen Yao pick up fouls for doing the same thing. We've all yelled at him to put his arms straight up to avoid it.

That said, you can't count on getting ANY fouls called in the last seconds, and that's exactly what happened. My only point is he was fouled. I'm going to break something now...until Sunday...

Players aren't the only people who've been riding Lebron's coattails.

I totally agree with your 1st paragraph, including the comments about defense. I'm not in the mood to compliment the guy, but Brown has the Cavs playing some outstanding D. Some of the eight 4th quarter TOs by the Pistons were careless, but much of it was the intensity and effort of the Cavs contesting every little thing the Pistons tried to do. And they did it without fouling every possession.

The Pistons won't beat the Spurs in the Finals because they have slipped. The Cavs have matched them play for play but have choked when the game is on the line. This will be over in 5. If the Cavs have any heart, they will take game 3, perhaps decisively.

are you using this to show that there wasn't a foul or to show that the commentators are crazy? we all know that whistles get swallowed at the end of games, but that doesn't really erase hamilton committing at least 2, and maybe 3 fouls. right as lebron started driving, hamilton gave him a little stiff arm that was obviously a foul and was easily a foul even by the old handchecking rules, then he bumped him as lebron started spinning (maybe not a foul), and then he kept moving and bumping during the whole spin, basically riding him and that's just a foul. but like i said, we've seen worse not called at the end of games, but there has been softer called as well. the pistons were fortunate. and then extremely fortunate that larry hughes can't make an open 7 foot jumper.

and i only just saw a highlight on espn, but was pavlovic called for traveling on that pass out from lebron at the 3 point line? unless they called him for traveling before he jumped, all i saw hiim do was jump, decide he would get blocked and then throw the ball into the ground away from him. if you jump and dribble (which implies catching the ball after it hits the floor), that's a travel, but jumping and throwing a bounce pass to someone else, well, that's not a travel. so unless the refs called something else or i saw it wrong, the refs were crazy to call a travel.

this series will go further than 5 games. apparently we have all forgotten cavs were down 2-0 last year only to win 3 games in a row.

as bad as the cavs have played, det has played just as bad. Look for the home crowd in cleveland to make a difference the next two games.

i can see this going the distance.

If Lebron had Tmacs skills there would have been a foul call. Nobody screams foul more consistently like TMAC while in midair wheter its a jumpshot or a drive to the basket. Lebron just doesn't know how to get the refs attention like our boy TMAC. :D
