Agreed. Mo lost his chance to get some limelight with his failed prediction. He's almost as bad as me.
the cavs had to win so they did...but they didn't prove that they REALLY wanted it...if they did, they wouldn't have let the magic get back into it after having a 22 point lead...when your in a win or go home situation, u can't do that.... orlando is 6!!!! MY CITY IS GOING TO THE FINALS!!!!
I'm pretty sure last night's performance brings his playoff PER back to a godly 41+. I'm waiting for b-r to update so I can see what it actually is. This guy is just sick.
holy flirking shnit!! i figured it had to be ridiculous, but i had no idea it was in the stratosphere like that. i thought maybe 35 or so. it's at 39.5 right now with this game about to add on to it so maybe he can get back to 41. that is just insane. anything over 30 is pretty much legendary, but over 40...in the playoffs? does anyone realize that arguably his worst game of this series was a 35 point, 5 assist, 4 rebound, 12-23 from the field game in which he hit a game-winning 3 at the buzzer? WAAW indeed.
when i told most of my friends, i amended that to "if the cavs win game 5 by double digits, then they will take the series...otherwise the magic will (either in 5 or 6)" Regardless, Cavs pulled it out, and double digits...so yeah, I say Cavs take this series now
Did his prediction fail? I'm pretty sure he predicted the Cavs would pull the series out and nothing else..
Wellp... the Cavs won game 5 like they were supposed to win... there was really no shot Orlando was going to win this game, it'd be pretty sad if the Cavs lost in just 5. But yep, Cavs season is coming to an end on Saturday... there's no way Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, and Hedo Turkoglu are going to let the Cavs take game 6... if they have to.. they'll will their team to victory similar to what LeBron did in game 5. For the Cavs to win game 6, they'd need LeBron to score 35+, and two other 20 point performances from two players other than LeBron or an equally divided scoring performance from the top 6 players.
Yeah, Mo Williams hitting 24 points on 50% shooting (66% from 3 point and 80% from free throw) wasn't much help at all especially since he had been atrocious in the previous 4 games. Look, I am not a LeBron hater and he had a great game and is a great player but he cannot and did not do it alone.
I find it particularly amusing that we are witnessing a guy going through what might arguably be the greatest statistical single season in basketball history and we have people complaining about unwarranted media coverage and "hype."
damned if you do, damned if you don't. I haven't watched much of this series, I just don't like watching the Magic, but I saw the second half last night. its the same story, he gets to the lane better than anyone because of his speed, size, and handles, and when he does that it can't help but open things up. combine that with pin point passing to the outside or hitting cutters and you get the type of numbers he put up last night. you can not argue with that stat line, i don't care what other players did, its absolutely ridiculous.
From ESPN Daily Dime: "THURSDAY'S WORST Rafer Alston, Magic : The hot-and-cold Alston skipped to the loo in this one. Makes 1-of-10 shots and puts up a minus-20 on the plus/minus chart. This could mean a big bounce-back night in Game 6." I don't know how I never thought to use that phrase while he was here.
I think it's quite possible the Cavs come back and win this, but I think it would be near impossible for them to do that AND win four games in the Finals. If it ended up being Lakers/Cavs, the Lakers would run away with it. That is just a ridiculous amount of energy to expend every game and expect to win several competitive playoff games. Also, it might be wrong of me, but I was kind of glad to see Rafer back to his streaky self last night. I like the guy, but it's reassuring to know that he's still the same player after his good performances earlier. If he was a consistent shooter he'd be a great PG in this league.
So... Mike Brown is the Reigning Coach of the Year (Rick Adelman runner up, no less)... Essentially, what he did at the end of the game was say "LeBron, you take the ball and go win this game for us." That plan is going to work out for him more times than not.... and everything seems fine, But assume that Lebron doen't have a great second half - Would we be talking about how Mike Brown doesn't have a strong game plan outside of Lebron? (I.E. does it become obvious that his coaching strategy ='s have Lebron on the team?
What offense is he supposed to run. secondly, the problem isn't offense as much as they don't have a front line and its catching up with them playing the Magic. he's supposed to cover Howard, varejao guarding howard is a joke from what I saw last night.
If they don't hit the shots, he doesn't get assists. He may have opened up some of the shots, as evidenced by Williams' 6-9 3 point shooting, but LeBron had some help this past game he didn't do it alone as some have suggested.
I think the real mismatch is Lewis. He is one of those rare power forwards that is comfortable playing the perimeter. Cleveland's front court did not face a player like him in their previous series and I don't really think any of their front court players are comfortable playing perimeter defense.
