i wrote that when they were down something like 12, they were struggling SVG sucked but Rip and Sheed did a great job of carrying this team
Jammer Nelson guaranteed Game 5 win? WTF! why JJ Redick didnt do that? I put the Game 5 win in the Pistons column already. The Magic just dont have it in their body language although now it ties at 20:20.
looks like the Pistons pull this one out; 3 pt lead with 12.7 sec and they have the ball. But just dont like the Pistons' showing. 3 TOV vs 20 TOV and still is a close game. Geeze. The Pistons under Flip are totally different. Their focus, intensity and execution are not as good as they were under Larry Brown. The West Conference Champion will win the Final.
now you see why Hedo is nothing more than a solid role player, like he's been his whole career. this season, for some reason he had the confidence to be a "star", and he just proved the final 2 games of their season why you dont want him to have that kind of role or confidence. he ruined their final 2 games on iso possessions that are reserved for kobe or lebron. he makes howard virtually a non-factor on offense.
I don't see the Celtics beating this Pistons team. Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, and Rasheed Wallace are some of the best defenders in the game. They can contain Pierce, Allen, and Garnett. And this "Boston Three Party" really have struggled individually in the playoffs. Really, they've all looked like marginal All-stars so far this postseason. No way they can regain their shooting touch against the Pistons defense.
Lewis is getting paid as a go-to-player yet he isn't. He is stealing money! And how is it Hedo's fault that Howard is not a go-to-player? Turkoglu saved a lot of games for them during the season and it's totally unfair to blame him for his teammates flaws. At least he had the guts to step up make or miss. I could very well be in the minority, but I would love him on the Rockets.
It's freaking crazy Lewis get pay 15 mils per season. But I dont say he steals. Otis Smith is the idiot when there's no bidder in the market and he just promised to go max anyway. Poor management!
Exactly. You would expect the $100 million man to step up but he disappeared the last two games. Even today Hedo shot at a very decent rate. Lewis, OTOH, was just plain sucking. Howard, as usual, cannot be relied upon to provide offense. Hedo is the only real creator on that team and like you, I would love to have him on the Rockets to take pressure off of Yao and Tmac.
Orlando needs some major changes. When the two supposed stars on your team (one certified superstar, one who's just paid like one) aren't reliable go-to guys in the clutch you won't get far.
They killed themselves financially when they signed Lewis to that ridiculous contract. No other team would want to touch him and he isn't the answer. Magic will be average to good for next few years but not serious contenders.
exactly my point. having guys to step up, make or miss, isn't a good thing when it comes to 2nd or lower tier players. i could care less about the plight of the Magic, yet that last possession of game 4 really aggravated me to watch, and he exposed everything about himself that you need to know in 8 seconds. he milked the clock down to 4 while behind the top of the arc, limiting them to 1 shot at scoring while down 1, then he recklessly bullrushed his way to the basket without even considering giving the ball up, and he got off an awful, forced runner at the buzzer. tonight, he again basically shut his eyes and plowed his way to the basket and ended their game and season. maybe howard and rashard are both overrated, but if you're relying on hedo turkoglu to win you ballgames, your team isnt going anywhere (and they didnt). i liked him better before this season when his confidence didn't exceed his talent and abilities. i wouldn't want this form of him on the rockets.
I dont get you! Do Hedo steal your girlfriend or what? Hedo is paid like a role player and was asked to play like a superstar simply because the 2 supposed superstars suck badly in this series. Is this Hedo's fault because two of the highly paid superstars suck? Given the ball to Howard in the last minute is a gurantee turnover as he dont have any post moves and Lewis simply dont want the ball. We like confidence guy yet you hate a guy who regain his confidence! Isnt is funny? Is not like Hedo is getting cocky after he won the MIP award!
no, confidence is fine. overconfidence is a problem. and all i said was that he's not good enough to go iso on final possessions of games. he was exposed this series.
Exposed? Ha! Hedo wasnt exposed. He did fine. Its the other two that were exposed. You do realize that he is asked to do carry them because he is the only one on that team who can do it, don't you? He is not a star yet he was asked to carry the load of one because neither Lewis nor Howard can. More often than not, Hedo has delivered for them this season. If anything, its the Magic management/coaches who are to blame. Since you dont like the idea of Hedo creating, who do you suggest Magic go to went they need baskets? I am all ears....
I've got to agree that it isn't Turkey-Glue's fault he is the best "go to" player the Magic have. He made a lot of clutch shots (and some game-winners) during the regular season and is the best all-around player the Magic have on offense. He does everything decently well but isn't great at anything. I've said this all year and will say it again: The backcourt is the main problem with the Magic. They started out the season smoking hot with a lot of quality road wins because Keith Bogans played way over his head while Jameer Nelson did well at PG. I watched a bunch of those games. Of course, Bogans and Nelson came back to Earth and so did the Magic. They will continue to suffer until they get a solid SG that can score on a consistent basis. For the record, I thought it was a mistake for the Magic to sign Jameer Nelson long term. It was kind of silly because they waited to see how he performed during preseason. Secondly, they must get a PF with some real power to support Howard, who is the only decent rebounder and inside player they have. One guy can only do so much. Lastly, SVG doesn't impress me at all. If this was his first season as an NBA head coach, fine. But I thought he made several strategic mistakes that cost the Magic wins in games 2 & 4. They should be going back to Orlando up 3-2 with another close-out game. My offseason suggestion: Exchange Turkey-Glue for an upgrade at PG or SG, get a true PF, keep Dooling and improve the bench if they can.
but he can't either. that's my point. he's a role player, and nothing more. i'm talking about him, not the other players on his team.
That Tayshaun Prince block was absolutely sick. Series clinching block. Maybe I am too hyped up over the play, but I thought was one of the great playoff blocks of all time. Should be Sportscenters #1 POD.
He can and he has most of the season including games in playoffs. You are discrediting his performance based on just two games against Piston, who have one of the best defenses in the game. It is easy for Pistons to zero in on Hedo for those last shots especially when they know he is the only one who can create. If we use your criteria, Tmac is a role player because he has come up short against the Pistons doing the exact same thing. Hedo is not just a role player as you are implying. He is not a star either. He is somewhere in between. He is nowhere near a Kobe or Lebron but he is not a Turiaf or Gibson either. He is the perfect 3rd player for a team with two superstars looking for another impact player. Hedo shot at better than 46% clip against the Pistons, shot better than 50% from 3 point, and averaged 17 points while creating for himself and his teammates. Sorry, that's not just a role player.
Hedo did awesome, i liked his play a lot, dwight i believe cost them the game and missed FT LOL. And i thought we were the worst FT shooting team
