Getting Tari back will be huge... too bad about Amen. If we can just get everyone healthy I think our bench unit will actually be pretty good.
They would still be missing that true 6th man, one wonders if they would go after a guy like Brogdon at the deadline.
Still need a good scoring punch like a Cam Thomas. Wouldn't mind looking at the trade deadline but I feel like the parity in the league means trade deadlines aren't going to be nearly as impactful as before. Probably off season, free agency or draft.
@groovemachine @MystikArkitect I think Amen is going to develop into that guy, and relatively quickly (offensive engine/6th man). I do agree that we might need a pure shooter, depending on how Tari and Tate are shooting it at the deadline and/or on whether Ime thinks Cam is ready. Right now I think it's about stability and letting guys learn their future roles and develop chemistry. Adding one off-ball catch and shoot guy isn't going to mess that up, but I'm not looking to take the ball out of Amen's hands when it comes to the bench.
Rockets forward Tari Eason is nearing a return from the leg injury that has sidelined him for the first two weeks of the 2022/23 season, writes Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle (subscription required). According to Feigen, head coach Ime Udoka said on Monday that Eason will practice on Tuesday and could be cleared to play in Wednesday’s game vs. the Lakers. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2023/11/southwest-notes-eason-brooks-biyombo-wemby.html
Eason getting back is going to be huge. The team is starting to click well and has been very effective and competitive. I am very excited to see how Eason will be incorporated into this very good and competitive squad.
My only concern is relying on a rookie(s) if there’s a real chance of finishing in the 7-10 range in the west. The team seems one scorer short on the bench, it could be a rookie but I wouldn’t be mad if they land a vet 6th man. A playin/playoff appearance could really set the table to become a contender sooner rather than later.
Yeah, I can get that. For me I'll just be happy if we make the play-in and anything beyond that is a bonus. I see this as a growth year where we start to lock in on what works well and what everyone's roles are going to be, and next season would be the one where we'd start looking hard at how we can improve our chances at advancing.
Holiday is outperforming Brogdon why would we even need him? Rockets should wait till at least the deadline before they start thinking of moves. Give the guys a chance to get used to Udoka's system first. Judging by need right now Landale should be priority to get replaced the backup center is the primary need not the scoring 6th man. Any of Eason, Amen, Cam and Holiday can be that true 6th man by season end we don't need another guy for that imo.
Nothing is given, this can be a successful season and the next one could be a less successful one. Things are never the same, that is the exciting thing about this league when you are not a household name yet. 2 peat, repeating something is harder than achieving something.
Bench desperately needs him. As is we have undersized Tate and grandpa Jeff Green taking all the backup minutes for the swingman positions.
We need a backup for the swingman positions, I agree. Evidently, its not going to be Cam. Not right now anyway. Maybe Bullock gets waived and the Rockets have a vet to sign we dont know about.
