I'm good at writing Philosophy Major / English minor. Useless degree in terms of practicality, but hopefully I'll go straight to the big leagues and make 7 figures.
I've always wonder What do people actually end up doing majoring in Restaurant/Hotel Management at UH? My friend is thinking about going into that, but I"m not sure if you can get a high salary job with that degree rite? Seems like a bunch of hospitality classes.
My friend got a degree in restaurant and hotel management and he is a manager at Luby's. A GM at Luby's starting salary is $65,000 and goes up to $170,000k depending on the restaurants performance.
Based on the OP's self-assessment, I am guessing he is more interested in the least amount of effort put forth towards earning a degree. As such, Political Science or History are out of the question. What degree used to be called Physical Education? Kinesiology or something like that? I bet that is pretty light work load right there.
Well I know my friend is majoring in World of warcraft here in UT-Austin. I think just about every college offers that so you should definitely look into it.
you can make good money as a gm in the restaurant biz, but the hours are usually really long and vacation is few and far between.
problem with econ is that is is predominately taught by foreigners who speak very little english which can become tiresome
It seems like a lot of people who don't know what they want to do end up defaulting to psychology, including several of my friends.
I think everywhere, but I know at least where I go to school, phycology is far and away the most popular major at close to 50%
my uncle was a luby's gm for about a year - the schedule/hours are insane. i wouldnt do that job for under $100k and even then i dont think i could last more than a couple years - you have no life outside luby's. ive worked in a few restaurants and most gm's are bitter a-holes - i dont want to be like that.
If you end up with a degree for a career that you don't like, then you will have to go back to college to get another degree to start over again.
Major in communication or sociology. I switched from pre-med to business administration after 2 years or so and thought it was a breeze comparatively.
