It's pretty feminine, I'll say. Piercing ANYTHING is feminine. You want to look like a girl, suit yourself, mister "male."

Why do people say "if someone wants to do it, it's their life"...?? Heck, everything is "it's their life", then, 'cuz it's their right to do these stupid things with their "freedoms" and crap.

    Xerobull, you're contradicting yourself, sir.

You have to wear earrings to stand out or to call attention to yourself... and I'm the loser?

I'm not hating when I say you look like a girl. You look like a girl and I say that with the utmost respect for you, madam.

Also, please learn to speak proper English.

proper english?? man its a forum...chill out..loosen up, you don't have to be so proper and uptight all the time....especially on a SPORTS FORUM!

and i never got earrings to stand out or call attention to myself...LOL, i liked the look on others and decided to try it out and now wearing earrings is an essential part of my outfit whenever i go out....its like wearing any other accessory...lol, makes me look like a girl? calling attention to myself?? man...i would hate to be associated with someone like you in any aspect of my life

mr. boring uptight "proper english on sports forum"....you probably force your wife to wear panties instead of thongs to be proper haha

I think they are generally feminine. They knock off a couple of man points. If you wear them, and have man points to spare, like Michael Jordan, you won't look that feminine.

So... you liked the look on others... that's why you tried it? Low self-esteem? Wait until you get to high school, sir.

"any other accessory"? Like... a purse... or a colorful necklace?

I believe you're right, sir, you WOULD hate to be associated with me. No one asked you to be. I gave my opinion, but it's calling it like I see it. You look like a girl, mister "essential part of my outfit... like an accessory."

I had 2 in each ear from 93 to 00. Just got sick of wearing them and that time also coincides when I graduated college and got my first job. I think the holes are still there, though.

I don't think feminine so much as immature. When I was a teenager, there were all sorts of dumb self-beautification things I wanted to do -- earring, dyed hair, jewelry, clothes, etc. I think it is just endemic to that age-group wanting to show your feathers and whatnot. On a teenager, it may be dumb, but it's perfectly understandable and I've been there. But, I have to wonder about a grown man still sporting an earring (or getting a tattoo, or whatever it may be); it seems very immature at that point.

Of course, as I say this, I'm growing a beard. Go figure.

Same here. Quit wearing them around 28, so almost ten years ago and I still have visible holes in my lobes.

Seems like an outdated fashion statement. But to each his own.

In college I had both my ears pierced. Graduated and then really didn't wear them afterward.

I'm actually thinking of getting them pierced

I do have a question though, how long does it take for the holes to grow back if you stop wearing them

I have three piercings in my left ear and one in my right. The first two were self-done because I was in high school and my parents wouldn't let me do it.

That being said, I haven't worn an earring in over 12 years, and I don't anticipate doing so again. It seemed to fit when I had long hair, but now that I'm almost 40 with short hair, I just don't think I'll wear them again.

Its all about the pretty boy swag. Some dudes can look pretty and get girls and some dudes look like douches. Its whatev.

Ever since I started wearing earrings I've gotten more attention from girls than I did before. So maybe they do bring positive attention, maybe they dont.

But who cares. Just do what makes you happy.

I still don't understand why other guys care so much about what other guys are wearing. Especially this site. There is always a male fashion thread here. Seriously, this site trumps all my other frequently visited forums when it comes to threads about guys and what clothes they wear.

I've never had them but back in the early 90's my mom was visiting me at college and remarked how there looked to be a lot of fashionable guys going around with pierced ears. My mom sometimes worried that I was too much of a slob so she said to me, "Don't you won't be fashionable too?" I went to school in the SF Bay Area so you can probably guess what persuasion a lot of those fashionable guys were but I didn't want to spoil my mom's image of those fashionable guys and thinking I should be fashionable like them.
