It really should be. If ever there was a valid reason to miss a day of work/school, it would be this.

At the very least it should be on a weekend. It makes no sense for it to be on a tuesday

Isn't there early voting on the weekends?

Honestly, if election day was a holiday how many more people would turn out to vote? I really think that the people who want to vote at this point do. (barring handicaps, transportation issues, etc.)

Yes, but wasn't there voting during last weekend?

I just think for a lot of people that don't vote they aren't going to vote no matter what day it is held on. They just don't want to bother.

Or they don't think their votes count. My ballot had a large number of propositions, city, and county races; one person's vote can make a difference.

I voted today at the acres homes multi-service center. It took about 20 minutes to get through the line and cast the ballot, no stickers!

My lady and I early voted yesterday at the Harris County Annex building, on the northbound feeder of 610W between Westheimer and San Felipe. It's directly across 610 from the Galleria.

They have 20+ voting machines there. Plenty of parking. The line was short and moved fast. We got there at 5PM and waited maybe 10-15 minutes tops.

Much better organized and moved much quicker than the other two places I've early-voted at in Harris County (Fiesta on OST and Bayland Park, Bissonnet & Hillcroft).

Get out there and VOTE!

Sheesh, I live in Montgomery County (county line goes through my backyard) and the closest early voting location is in New freakin' Caney.

I'm just going to wait until election day...

Done, took about 5 minutes, would have gone faster but I have enough vicodin in my system to tranquilize a manatee. Broken ribs are fun!!!

I disagree. Voting is an exercise in futility -- especially in Texas. To cast your vote is an implicit approval of the broken political system that we have in place. Voting in the system we have is fundamentally un-democratic because you're choosing between individuals that are seeking power and that are vetted by moneyed interests (the two-parties). I say that you should stay home and exercise your right to abstain from voting.

I voted yesterday in Pasadena after work and it was the fastest process I've experienced in 10 years. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

All fun and games until somebody gets hurt! Was a really neat cave though.

Need to hit Houston soon, the thread in the GARM about Jake's reminded me again.

And yeah, back on topic, I can pop 2000 mgs of hydrocodone and still not be high enough to vote for Romney.
