Since we are pipedreaming for a star PG, I'd rather have Steve Nash.

well if the Mavs can get Keith Van Winkle's bloated $15 M contract - then I think the Rockets can find a way to appease Mr. Kidd

Jason Kidd sure would look good in a Rockets jersey. But that has as much chance of happening as me suiting up.

Not if Kidd is willing to rework the contract to fit under the cap. Making something like JHoward or MoT money.

since we're all dreaming of hypothetical scenarios, i'd rather pass on kidd and go after an athletic 6'-6"/6'-7" shooting guard and an athletic 6'-10 / 6'-11' power forward

That would be one way I would be happy with the deal... Bring back Deke, JB, for little or no money and bring in Chris Anderson and keep him out of the Dunk contest (at most tossing the ball to Tracy if he ever enters again)and we have a team...

    Kidd---Mike
    DW---BOB
Tracy-- Ryan or (insert draft scrub here)
    JH---Chris Anderson
    Yao--- Deke

I'd be happy with that, I dont know if there is enough D to go around to make JVG happy with that lineup..

Not many owners in the league are die-hards like Cuban. NBA is a business and owners wanna make the maximum profit possible. Of course all the owners are probably generating big bucks but there can never be too much money.

Oh no, thanks but no thanks, we have enough white players on the squad, that will only drag us down even further;) :p

BTW, if we ever get Kidd, we will probably have to let Barry go, unless he take the vet min, unless of course we have to trade away Sura or James.

Anyways, I have never been one to like to put all my chips in one basket, I wouldn't want to have only Kidd at the PG and kill any depth we have. Kidd is not really injury-prone, but he has had problems lately with that knee surgery.

If we are really desperate for a starting PG, I would rather we sign Payton or something for much less money in the off season, although his rebounding/passing ability is not nearly as good as J-Kidd

I don't understand, how does "reworking" the contract or "restrusturing" the contract work? Doesn't that mean that he still gets paid the same final amoutn o fhis contract, except that he might be paid less early on and more later on?

I am confused here, if someone can enlighten me on this concept I would appreciate it

considering that NJ traded Martin for nothing but draft picks - just to eliminate payroll - they may consider a couple of draft picks and some expiring contracts

... just look at Kidd's contract - it is outrageous (and goes on forever....)

Exactly! Then why would ANY team want to pick it up? It is the most radioactive long-term contract in the league right now.

Crap, you ignant peeps need to stop with the Kidd talk.

    taint happenin.

Sam Smith says KG will be dealt for 3 starters tho, so ...

Ryan Bowen(heart @ sould of the team), + David Wesley(sharpshooter wolves desperately need) + Sura (faints) for KG. Then KG comes, rips up his contract and signs for 5 million so the rockets can still sign Michael Redd and Bobby Jackson.

    BJax/ Rick James
    Redd / Oz
    Tmac / one minute man
    KG / tinman's b****
    Yao / badman

That team's a little old, but can't have everything I guess.

    New Jersey Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing
    Jason Kidd
    6-4 PG from California
    14.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 8.3 apg in 36.9 minutes
    Incoming
    Bob Sura
    6-5 PG from Florida State

Change in team outlook: +8.6 ppg, +6.8 rpg, and -1.2 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Jason Kidd to Rockets?

Supposedly on SportCenter, Jason Kidd said he's interested in demanding a trade to Houston...can anyone confirm this?

no but i can deny it. no way will CD trade for him. the contract is max for 6 years. les would never let it happen.

i'm not sure we can even make it work capwise while keeping the guys we want.

Kidd is not the right answer. Way too old.

This team needs to find someone who is mature basketball wise, but not in their 30's. Otherwise just when Yao and T-mac are hitting his peak, you'll need to find another pg.
