    This is easy:

    Spoon (6.4M)+ Howard(5.9M) + Sura(3.5M)/James(3.4M) + picks for Kidd (16.4M)

This would leave the MLE for SAR or D. Marshall.

    Yao/Deke
    SAR/Padgett/Baker
    T-Mac/Bowen
    Wesley/Barry
    Kidd/James/Moochie

Only increase in the team salary is the MLE. Still have Moochie & Baker expiring to be filled by Yao's contract the next offseason.

i don't know why y'all think you need talent to trade for kidd. he's making 18 friggin' million dollars a year and not even close to worth it. he's still a very nice point guard, but not even close to being worth his contract. nj would probably be glad not to have to pay the other $76M or whatever it is for the next 4 years even if it meant losing kidd for nothing (b/c it's not like he's looking at getting better with age). we just happen to have come into a lot of expiring contract for next year and i don't see why we should have to give up any more than that for kidd. nj has zero money to improve with in upcoming years, and while carter and rj make max money, this at least gives them some flexibility.

now the question would be do we want to pay kidd $18-19M/yr for what he gives? he's an improvement over our pg's (even though we're pretty much set for the next 2 years there) and can be a big time player a significant portion of the time, even at his reduced currrent playing ability.

it doesn't add any money currently b/c you have to trade equal salaries but long term it adds a truckload, and you might have a guy who can barely play the last two years while you pay him over $20M and you'll have yao's new max deal added on. however, i can't help but think kidd would improve our team and if we could either get juwan back or sign a marshall type guy with the MLE i'd have to think kidd/tmac/yao would be very formidable and with a new pf extremely formidable. and we're in this to win championships, not worry about the cap 3 years down the line when so much can change anyway. that's especially true since we aren't going to be under the cap any time soon anyway, so it'll just be a matter of les forking over the dough (plus the LT possibly). since it's not my money, i'd do it. but if it was, i'd have to think about it. if they asked for actual talent back, i'd tell them no.

I remember when CD said this would happen back when the season first started.

It is nice to know that there are players that feel that coming here increases their probability to be on a winning team, possibly a championship team in the near future.

    J Kidd would be awesome!

OMG a person who can actually pass to Tmac and Yao? RUn the break and play defense....

Man I would welcome JKidd :)

Anyways..I don't think it's gonna happen. It's nice to hear that people are interested in coming to Rockets though.

Just please don't get Chris Anderson.

Get Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd and Bobby Simmons :)

Well it might be difficult since the Rockets are going to win the championship this year. The rule of thumb is that you don't bust up a championship team during the offseason. You should try and give them a chance to repeat.

Actually, using real GM this scenario works out:

    Houston Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing

    Bob Sura
    6-5 PG from Florida State
    10.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 5.2 apg in 31.5 minutes

    Moochie Norris
    6-1 PG from West Florida
    2.4 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 9.5 minutes

    Clarence Weatherspoon
    6-7 SF from Southern Mississippi
    3.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 13.1 minutes

    Incoming

    Zoran Planinic
    6-7 PG from Croatia
    5.0 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.0 apg in 12.0 minutes

    Jason Kidd
    6-4 PG from California
    14.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 8.3 apg in 36.9 minutes

Change in team outlook: +3.6 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and +2.7 apg.

    New Jersey Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing

    Zoran Planinic
    6-7 PG from Croatia
    5.0 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.0 apg in 12.0 minutes

    Jason Kidd
    6-4 PG from California
    14.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 8.3 apg in 36.9 minutes

    Incoming

    Bob Sura
    6-5 PG from Florida State
    10.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 5.2 apg in 31.5 minutes

    Moochie Norris
    6-1 PG from West Florida
    2.4 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 9.5 minutes

    Clarence Weatherspoon
    6-7 SF from Southern Mississippi
    3.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 13.1 minutes

Change in team outlook: -3.6 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and -2.7 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We can throw in a first round pick or something to make things work out for NJ, but this allows us to keep Juwon, who was dfoing well before the injury, and keep our deep bench. That leaves us with a team like this:

    PG Kidd/James/Ward
    SG Wesley/Barry
    SF T-Mac/Planinic
    PF Juwon/Bowen/Padgett
    C Yao/Mutombo

We also have a little flexibility for FA to maybe sign a banger PF to team up with Yao, or maybe another sharp-shooter for the SG spot...It could work, but would NJ want to get his albatross of a contract off the book bad enough to do this deal? Also, how would this affect the Rox ability to resign Yao?

this wont happen, because that would mean the the Rockets may legitly win a game if we play the Dallas Mavericks

Yea, Kidd coming here is VERY unrealistic but, the fact that everyone WANTS to come here to play says ALOT to how the rest of the league views us.

This is why I am so much more excited about next season. The Rockets will make a couple of moves, sign a key free agent or two, Yao will have his breakout season IMO and we will be the next dynasty in the making.

    JASON KIDD

Ric Bucher spoke about Jason Kidd's future and his desire for a ring. One team Bucher hinted that could catch Kidd's eye was the Rockets. What you think?

Chris Anderson has decided to opt out of his contract. I think he would be a good fit here and could take over as our primary backup 5 when Deke retires after next season. I'd throw half the MLE at him.

No it means JVG has say on who's coming and going. It a player doesn't fit JVG style then he isn't coming or staying. No worries after today comments JVG may have his job for as long as he likes.

That's the problem, once you get him, he would be very hard to move, especially if another injury pops up.

A Kidd/TMac/Yao team would be unbelievable, but adding his contract would basically clog any FA signigns what so ever.

Didn't JVG say during a recent interview that he thought Kidd is the best point guard and that he was worried about his brother's team because Kidd is on the Nets? He has always loved Kidd. I remember he picked Nets to win over Spurs in 2003 Finals.

That's a horrid deal, for a 32 year old player with a bum knee and declining stats. I wouldn't trade our expiring contracts for that cap-killing contract, especially with the next CBA to probably have a worse luxury tax.

The key piece we need is a PF who can defend.
