That'd be freakin' awesome. He really elevates the game of everyone else on his team with his point guard skills. That'd be sweet.

I don't think the Rockets could afford his contract either, but then I remembered reading that the Mavbricks have a $90 million dollar payroll. I have no idea, but I'd guess the Rockets is right around 50. Why couldn't the Rockets go over the "limit", pay the tax, and increase their payroll like the Mavs have?

It should be a good offseason.:)

It would have to include some of our big salarys that's all that could probably happen but i doubt it really.

I just don't like all this coming out with the game coming on...don't wanna think or talk about it i guess...but i can't resist answering in the thread lol

Almost impossible. Hou won't trade Tracy for sure and I don't believe they will trade Yao for kidds either. And we can't offer three max players anyway.

Unless, Rox do think out trading Yao???

He's not coming unless he's doing it for a ring. If he's going to do it for a ring, he's going to accept a paycut. If he still wants his paycheck, then Kidd my boy, just forget it.

I agree, winning the championship then getting Kidd and Stro will be sweet.

Would you guys feel bad about getting rid of Sura/Barry/Wesley after this season? I would out of loyalty. They've played their asses off making us somebodies again. I want those guys to get their ring.

Then again, I felt kind of wierd last offseason too and we know how that turned out.

Is Kidd game JVG style? Kidd likes to run but JVG likes to control the game with a 1/2 court grind out style.

Well you can't "tear up" your contract. I don't see how we could get him though. We can only toss 1 and 2 year contracts of crappy players their way. I don't think our draft pick will be attractive either. All the desirable PG are on winning teams, so I don't know how we could possibly improve at that position as there aren't many good PGs out there.

he'd be nice to have for a year or two, but dump him after that. he's getting old and is injured often plus his salary is ridiculously high.

i think kidd coming here is a total dream. we'd have to trade for him and his enormous contract and i dont think we have enough talent to trade for him without giving up t-mac/yao. kidd would have to totally restructure his contract to make it work.

and yeah kidd is a great defender and loves to run open court but with his pentrating ability and vision he can thrive in a 1/2 court. but the way new jersey has been built the past few years it was a transition team not a 1/2 court one.

kidd actually isn't a very good defender. dwyane wade put 26 a night and damon jones and keyon dooling played very well too. he's a defensive liability at his age.

OK, how about Vin Baker, Moochie Norris and Clarence Weatherspoon + #1 draft pick for Kidd?

The money actually works out pretty close, NYJ gets 3 expiring contracts, which seem to be extremely valuable these days and the pick to start rebuilding. We get Kidd, who at 31, ought to have a little game left.

Gotta understand why NJN would deal Kidd. If they are moving him, they want to rebuild on the fly. To do that, you need money and picks and this deal would do that.

Not saying it will happen, but many folks discounted the possibility of McGrady last offseason and Pippen, among others, coming here a while back. Our guys have a way of getting the big name guys.

The important thing is that the Rockets might become the new Lakers -- the team everyone wants to go to and will take a pay cut to do it.

Stro, Tyson -- you listening? :D

Can we suit him up for tonite?

Seriously - Kidd would probably put us over the top next year. He still is a good defender and is not a scoring liablilty.

I'm not sure about long term though.

nevermind after looking at that contract. 16.5 mil. next year, 18 mil. 06/07, 19.7 mil. 07/08, 21.3 mil. 08/09. other than that being extremely expensive there is no way he'll last past 06/07. props to jason kidd for getting an organization to agree to such an unrealistic deal.

sura/james + juwan + baker + moochie + ward would be the closest match. however that's possibly two starters for an old and injury prone player. the nets would love to have a pf of juwan's calibre but rox might need juwan to trade up for their own pf needs.

ahh...guys, quit dreaming! I don't think that there is any possibility we pick yet ANOTHER max-contract guy. We are already at $58 mil on the payroll, and when Yao is paid the max we will be paying a lot more.

I am MUCH more intrigued in a Tyson Chandler or Stro Swift (although Swift is a lil annoying for my taste, and seems like a guy who just doesn't give a damn and will be hard to deal with).

I really want this team to get YOUNG players to build for the future, we don't want to keep adding dinasours to our lineup. I like Kidd a lot, of course, but his contract is WAYYYY too big for the Rockets to absorb it. I think Kidd would literally have to do away with his contract and take the MLE or something if he is SERIOUS about winning a ring. That long-term contract he just signed might prove detrimental to his chances to be a winner.

It is amazing with the scrubs we have this year we are playing the $90 mil payroll Mavs this well, in the first year of the McMing Dynasty. Houston "THE FUTURE"?? DUH!!:D

In regards to what Bucher said about Houston being a place now in the league where everyone wants to go, the funny thing is I heard Les Alexander a few weeks back talking about the SAME exact thing, he said that players "want to come and play for us" when he was talking about how he would rather win than make money.

I thought it was just Les proppoing up his team, but apparently they know something they don't, like if agents of certian players around the league are contacting the Rockets to express interest in playing with the next Dynasty.

You look for a trade of Kidd if it does not hurt the team's overall strength. For example, If you could ship BSura and Weatherspoon + a #1 for Kidd, it might strengthen the team and put them at a position to grab the trophy.

Otherwise, it would be better off for the Rox to lay their hopes on James ... James does have a chance to be a great point guard ...
