The offense is not improving because of the Twin towers experiment. I would actually expect the DRtg to improve massively since we played 3, at best, mediocre teams. 5th is pretty low to me. It's due to the lack of T/O creation and mediocre d-reb rate. Pretty weird since this team played a ball-hawk type D last season, and we have two rebounding beasts in Dwight and Asik. At the end of the day tho, it's a very small sample size.
Right now the Rockets are playing badly, but we are simply overwhelming bad teams with our talent. It's gonna take awhile, but this team is gonna be lethal once they get comfortable. Howard will never be a post him up, let him operate type of player, if he was gonna be it would have already happened. Having said that, he does have a lot of offensive potential (Orlando wasn't a mirage) when he can flash into the post, or seal his man down low. This team as a whole (Howard included) needs to get better at utilizing this offensive weapon. Potential lobs are being missed too. Defensively this team is gonna be good, very good. My only question was Harden's commitment, and early returns are very positive.
For Asik not to be traded at the deadline, we would have to be something like top 3 in defense. It would have to be special to make us not want to break up our front line.
We are one of only 3 teams in the NBA (GSW, MIN) to be Top-10 in both ORTG and DRTG. We are also #1 in the NBA in Net Rating (ORTG - DRTG). Very good early returns. Looking forward to tomorrow.
