I'm surprised Texas is that high. I'll be honest, I don't know much about the BCS, but I figured Texas would be anywhere from 13-15.

    So, here's what's gonna happen.

Texas beats Colorado, Texas wins out.

    Nebraska beats Oklahoma.

Colorado beats Nebraska, as well as wins out after Texas game.

Colorado beats Oklahoma in Big XII championship game.

Texas is ahead of Oklahoma and Nebraska.

    Stanford beats Oregon this weekend.

    Oregon beats UCLA.

    Miami beats Va. Tech.

    Washington beats Miami.

    Ohio State beats Michigan.

Fresno St. either loses, or schedule strength continues to drop.

Texas ends up in Rose Bowl.

I know that some of those losses probably wouldn't put some teams behind Texas, but this isn't all that unlikely. The best thing that could happen is have both Nebraska and A&M beat OU, and we play Nebraska in the championship game...but we all know how well Mack Brown does in big games. (shhh, don't tell him I said that, he'll accuse me of not being a real fan)

RM95, that will all probably happen but then Maryland and Washington State will win out and we'll have an exciting Rose Bowl with those two teams!

Q for Texas Fans: Would you rather play in the Rose Bowl and lose or another BCS Bowl and win? (if those are the only two alternatives)

I'd rather be in the big game and lose. To get a taste of that kind of atmosphere I think would better prepare us for next year.

The only way I see Texas getting into the Rose Bowl is if they win the Big 12 championship (an extra victory against a top team). Otherwise, if OU or Nebraska or Florida or perhaps Miami only picks up only one loss they would probably be ranked ahead of us with 1 loss. I do think if a 1 loss team gets in the Rose Bowl, the odds are better that it is from Big 12 championship game than anywhere else.

Now to be in the Big 12 championship game, Nebraska plus either A & M or Tech would have to beat OU plus we run the table. I don't think it is that farfetched that OU loses, however Texas would still have to beat Colorado, at A & M, and most formidably, Nebraska. Even if the above happens, the Rose Bowl could be spoiled if a Big East team (very probable) and Pac 10 team (far less probable because of a number of good teams) run the table.

OK, Florida State or Clemson beats Maryland.

Washington St. loses to Arizona St., but beats Oregon and UCLA.

I've been saying it for a week...my upset special for the year is Tech over OU.

You have Nebraska beating OU who is ranked number 1 but losing to Colorado who is not even ranked in the top 10? Sorry, but that isnt going to happen.

    shanna,
Thanks for posting that link to ESPN. I forgot that Brad Edwards (didn't he play at South Carolina and later in the NFL with the Skins?) would be posting this BCS update. I'm not surprised that Miami is #5 and I am not worried about them being any lower than #3 because of OU-Nebraska having to play each other and UCLA-Oregon having to play each other.

However, I do find it amusing that the computers as well as strength of schedule are supposed to be just "one" factor in determining the rankings. First the number of computers used increases, now it decreases. Also, each one has a different basis on doing their rankings. I'm sorry but I can't figure out how Miami can be #1 in one computer ranking and #21 in another?

Considering what happened last year, I am not going to feel safe until Miami is one of 2 unbeaten teams. If UCLA comes out of the Pac-10 unbeaten, the Canes are screwed because the winner of Nebraska, probably Nebraska, and Oklahoma will not lose until possibly the Rose Bowl game.

    ROCKSS,

You never know, we shouldn't have beaten the Huskers in '96, and Colorado's undefeated except for one loss to a top 10 team, a game they should've won. Plus, they're playing in Boulder, I believe...not the easiest place to play.

    Rocketman95,
Fair Enough. I hope to see Texas play us in the Big Twelve Championship.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's likely, but you never know.
