Don't take this the wrong way man. But as a Lakers fan myself, I find yourself really annoying, OCBallfan. Come on! It's fans like you that give the rest of us bad names.
1. Lebron 2. Wade and it's close. Those of you putting Wade any further than 2 or 3 haven't been watching him this season.
wade's team not going anywhere this year, why does he deserve to be no.2? 1.kobe 2.lbj 3.howard 4.cp3 5.maybe wade
Hell no, Wade shouldn't even be in the discussion, just like it was when Kobe wasn't winning 2 or 3 years ago. It's gonna be between Kobe, Lebron, and Dwight, as it should be, considering the way they're balling and their teams are winning.
Uh what? So is the MVP trophy for the best player on the best team, or the most valuable player? I take it as you haven't seen Wade play much lately? Kobe has Odom, Bynum, Gasol, Ariza, etc, etc, etc. Wade has.. Udonis Haslem and a rookie coach. The only reason the Heat are going to make the playoffs is Wade. Would the Lakers be in the playoffs in the tough Western conference without Kobe? I think you could make a damn good argument that they would. Wade has even been a better defender than Kobe this year! He's averaging 2.3 SPG and 1.6 BPG -- that's disgusting, especially the blocks considering he's a SG. I repeat: 1. LeBron 2. Wade Nobody else deserves to be in the running, IMO. Kobe has a had a good year, but he's good an enormous amount of talent around him. I don't think you can call him the most valuable player in the league when he has an all star supporting cast. Dwight has been nasty, but also has 5x the talent Wade does. I would probably put Dwight as third, but a distant third from the top two. League Pass is your friends, folks.
If Lebron or Kobe couldn't win it when they were putting up sick numbers while their teams were sucking, why should wade be in consideration? That's right, he isn't, there's a reason why he isn't even top 4 for the mvp in any column. Hell T-Mac was putting up crazy numbers in Orlando and he never won it. So I repeat, Lebron, Kobe, or Dwight.
^ then do you think Duncan, Nash and Dirk should return their MVP trophies because they had an "all star" cast around them as well.
kobe is more clutch..he just get big important shots at the 4th. Getting on fire when the team need them. we know how he clutch he was against us
I think MVP voting is skewed towards players on the better teams, and I don't think that's right. Most Valuable Player, not the best player on one of the best teams. When Kobe had sick numbers, he wasn't passing, he was trying to score 81 every night. Wade plays a team game and actually should probably be up there for first team defense this year as well. Put Wade in place of any of the other candidates, save for LeBron, and that team has an identical if not better record.
Well if you were in his place, would you want to pass to Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, Smush Parker, Devean George and Brian Cook? Its not like he was playing selfish, he did it because the team was slow and unable to grasp the triangle and until then they just ran the offense through Kobe, setting him up in the high post with his back to the basket. Agreed that Wade tries to get everyone involved more but that doesn't mean Kobe is selfish. Every night asks for different strategies and if he feels there's a clear mismatch on him, he's going to abuse it. I would have to disagree with your last statement though.
Kobe's supporting cast that year isn't that much worse than what Wade is working with now. The last statement is just IMO, something neither of us will ever know. I just hate that players like Wade get penalized because they have zero help, especially when they're a top 2-3 player in the league.
But isn't winning a strong factor in deciding whether you're a top player or not? Come on man you know its not true. Smush is garbage, Kwame is garbage played post defense once in a blue moon and has an IQ of a pot, Devean George was good for shooting 3s and little else. Odom plays hard for 3 quarters and then shuts down on us. Marion is a DPOY candidate every year who does the little things to help you win, not to mention he can check PG - some PFs on defense. Haslem is a banger and is an NBA champ. Mario Chalmers and Daequan Cook are snipers. Beasley is a top pick and can provide you with double digit scoring off the bench while the Laker bench was invisible
My MVP Frontrunners: CP3, LeBron and Wade, in no particular order. Those are the three most important players to the success of their teams. Take them off their respective teams and those teams will fall off the map. The Hornets, Cavs and Heat are currently playoff teams and would not be if it weren't for those 3 players. Howard isn't far behind but I think you could argue that a couple of other players on that team are almost as important as him. If I had to pick one player, I'd go with CP3. I also think he should've won it last year over Kobe.
I think the Lakers would do better without Kobe than the Hornets without Paul, the Cavs without James and the Heat without Wade. I'm not necessarily talking about the Most Talented Player. There is no award for that. I'm talking about the player most valuable to his team. I don't define MVP the way the media does either.
