Currently taking donations to have a "DRAFT KOLB" letter published in the Chronicle. If they don't draft him, they will regret it for the next decade!
Yes...he's a senior. Some have projected him as a mid-1st Rounder, a lot of the mock drafts don't have him going in the 1st however. I'm hoping for Kolb in the 3rd but if Smith is there in the 2nd, I wouldn't be mad if we took him.
I say we go all Eastern European this year, the team may suck but the booze will be tasty: 1. Jeff Samardzija 2. Paul Posluszny 3. Tom Zbikowski 4. Jared Zabransky Trade for Michael Roos & Igor Olshansky to fix the lines. Na Zdrowie!
I'm sure this will change your mind...(the music is especially moving) <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2uvaqh--2Kc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2uvaqh--2Kc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
didn't Adrian Peterson grow in Texas? they aren't going to draft him then. the Texans do not want any which way to draft a player who is popular in this state. I know theres a good amount of Sooner fans in Houston, so they dont want to please them either.
Always draft someone who has All Pro written all over them, forget position- the Texans need desperate help. Wide receiver and TE are the only positions I wouldn't look at since the QB situation is so messed up. They must draft a good QB prospect after the 1st round selection. I would try to trade down for a sweet heart deal or take a sure fire All Pro prospect regardless of position- The proverbial best player available- the sure thing if possible. They need desperately- Offensive Linemen, running backs, cornerbacks, safeties, defensive linemen, outside backers - other than that they are in pretty good shape.
I think teams always draft players who they think have "All Pro written all over them," the problem is that maybe only 2-3 of the entire draft will be. I wouldn't mind trading down but I don't see teams wanting to move up in this draft, there aren't a lot of guys that would warrant trading up IMO. I agree with our needs, here's how I look at the draft by our needs: DL: Alan Branch- At 6-6 331lbs. Branch is a beast. Travis Johnson is garbage and I think we need to solidify our DL more than anything else. Putting him next to Mario could be HUGE for our DL. OL: Joe Thomas- Heard Kubiak doesn't like huge lineman but Thomas is the best OL in this draft. 6-8 313lbs. is big!! Don't want to rely on Spencer like we relied on Bosselli and DD. CB: Leon Hall- Shut down corner...enough said. Putting Faggins opposite of D-Rob isn't helping our secondary. S: Laron Landry- Haven't seen him play much but he seems to be hands down the best S in the draft. I also like Michael Griffin, but would be a reach. RB: Adrian Peterson- His injury history really worries me, but no doubt he has the most potential out of anyone in this draft. Could Kubiak pass on both Bush and AP?
When you pass on special players like Vince Young and Bush, it is hard to get excited about the draft. In fact, I am very cynical about the Texans draft, feel like they will come up with some "lesser" player no matter when they get to pick. I once thought this was a "smart" organization, no longer. Has the new coaching staff impressed any of you? Most of the players haven't impressed anyone. Nothing about this organization is impressive. Well, maybe the stadium.
This last draft was a very good draft. Mario, Demeco, Owen Daniels, Lundy, and Charles Spencer all have had positive impacts.
Demeco Ryans is super impressive. I agree with you..the organization is unimpressive. After 5 years, it is completely void of any identity.
If we trade David Carr I'm all for drafting Kevin Kolb from the University of Houston Community College in the 2nd or 3rd round. This guy has the moxie to play QB. He doesn't care about stats, just winning plus he's a local product. If we draft either Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson in the first round and Kevin Kolb later I will pack my bags and move my family from Dallas to Houston and buy season tickets next year. kevin kolb
