pere-Keeping Cato while getting #3 (assuming it didn't cost Mobley) would be a plus IMO? Not the case?

The more lefties on your team, the better.

    Draft Moiso. Trade Moises.

    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

    Pere,

Espn's katz is reporting that he has heard the Clips will send #3 and #18 to the Magic for #5 and #10, with the specualtion being that #3 will Miles and #5 Fizer and #10 & #13 will be PGs. Apparently Doc rivers really wants Miles, and does that mean he doesn't need to draft a centre???

David Aldridge reported that the deal on the table was orlando sending Cory Maggette, #5, and #10 for #3 to get miles. i guess adding maggette would be to free up some more cap space.

    #5,#10 AND Maggette for #3

AND YOU GUYS THOUGHT GIVING UP MOBLEY AND #9 WAS TOO MUCH TO GIVE UP FOR #3?????

Considering Mobley's friendship with Franchise, and his proven value to this team, and the fact that Miles will need some serious grooming before he's ready for prime time (although I'd love to have Miles), yes, I'd still say giving Cat to anyone is too steep a price---especially since Odom and Cat would love playing on the same team.

keeping a player because he's friends with francis is not a good enough reason for me. francis hasen't done squat yet to be making demands and personel decisions.

Francis hasn't made any demands concerning the roster, at least not that I know of. But he did say that he and Cuttino were good friends and Mobley was his "left hand".

Although I can't claim any inside info, nor am I an expert on this, but to em, trading the guy whom your Franchise player says is his "left hand" is asking for trouble.

If we trade away Cat for #3 and then draft Miles, Clutch may aswell start the Tank-a-thon 2001 section on the website and we should start a new section in BBS called Lotto 2001, cause we will back here again next year.

Is Miles a Garnett or Leaon Smith??????

Or perhaps, rather than "between", just flat-out, Houston with picks #3 and #18, which coincidentally happen to both belong to Elgin Baylor.

[*]The local product, Jerome Moiso would be available at #9.
[*]Kelvin Cato is signed to a long term contract, which the Clippers need.
[*]They had shown interest in Bryce Drew during the season.
[*]They've always seemed to prefer filling "holes" with "rotation players" rather than to go for the big catch. IE: #2 McDyess for #15+RodneyRogers+BrianWilliams.
    [*]They're the Clippers.

If a Rocket deal goes down, my money's on the Clippers.

I would hope for the Clippers too, thaCabbage, but we've been milking that cow for a long time to no avail.

If you had the #3 and the #18, couldn't you do more impressive things with it than Cato, Drew and Moiso?

    <HR>
How about a trade with Chicago at #4. We then can pick up sloppy seconds from the Clippers. If Fizer falls, we snab him and convince the Clippers to give us Miles (whom they've snatched at the #3), forbidding Doc. Rivers of the same glory. If we get Miles at #4... smile.

I was wondering how long I should wait before I start to panic that we've drafted Courtney Alexander. I have a gut feeling that we will end up trading whoever we draft but I have no idea how long it will take to become public. If I'm not mistaken they usually are announced the next day, but what is the difference in trading your pick or trading the player you pick. Would Stern walk up to the podium and say "The Houston Rockets have traded the 9th pick in the draft to the L.A. Clippers [IMG], and they have selected ?" or would the ROCKS' just select a player to complete a trade that won't be announced until the completion of the draft. I'm just worried that if I have to sit through the entire draft knowing that we have selected a PG or SG, and not knowing who we will really en d up with, I would probably destroy my computer or whatever else I can find that I can't afford to replace.

i think if jerry krause, doc rivers, or rudy t. thought that darius miles has even a chance of being another leon smith they wouldn't be willing to give up an arm and a leg to get him. obviously they see him being another kevin garnett or something close to garnett.

Wouldn't Orlando be willing to give up #5 and #10 plus Maggette, so they will have the cap room (with other deals) to pick up Hill and Duncan, and use the draft pick for Miles. Now that could be scary!

What I was saying was: If we ended up with a #3 it would have to include either Mobes or Cato. Given how our roster presntly stands, I would unfortunately agree that opting for Cato to stay would be best. I wouldn't hold my breath on that #3 though.

    Orlando

    1. The #5,#10,#13 Doleac and Maggette for the #3 story gets more diluted everytime I hear it. Although something going on between the Clips and either The Magic or Da Bulls is evident.

    2. Just to clarify: When they are talking about using Maggette to clear cap space, they are more likely talking about the guaranteed contracts of two first rounders along with Maggette's salary. For information purposes The Draft Choices involved: #3($2.4M), #5($1.9M),#10($1.3M) and #18($850K). Corey Maggette's salary for 2000-2001) is $1.2Million. To recap: in a deal where Orlando gives up say #5 and #10 and a player like Maggette, they lose (1.9+1.3+1.2)$4.4Million in salary. They take on ($1.9M +850K)= $2.75 in salary. For a net savings of (4.4-2.75)= only $1.65Million. With that in mind I doubt that cap savings would be a big factor in this. But that's just me.

3.Presumably if a deal between Orlando and The Clips takes place, Chicago will fall in place and sell the farm for the number one or two. As noted Jerry Kraiuse likes Miles a lot. That appears to be the target of Orlando also. I wouldn't expect he would be sitting still for any of this.
