Scoot, Wemby, Amen. That's the list. Trade up for one of them if you have to and let's get to firing Silas I mean winning games.
Rockets legend Juwan Howard's kid! [insert "his future's so bright, he's gotta wear shades" old joke here]
Whitmore's still rusty/getting back in game shape, but he's still looked like a force in the limited minutes he's played. The guy goes out there and tries to dominate whenever he's playing, which is scary considering he's 6'6"-6'7", 235ish, with ball skills, explosiveness and body control. He settles a bit for contested 3s, but he can clearly knock them down. I expect his #s to keep getting better as he gets in the flow of things. Don't wanna toot my own horn but most people didn't have him that high before the year. Nick Smith Jr. reminds me a lot of Jordan Poole. Thin 6'5" combo-G who can score from 3 levels, create for others (as a secondary playmaker) and play in the P/R. But even though he's still getting integrated like Whitmore, I don't love him as a prospect. He doesn't pop athletically and I feel like Poole might be more on the high-side of his outcome range. I'd have him in the mid-1st range atm, still prefer Keyonte George over him. Jett Howard is impressive as a 6'8" wing with a smooth game/stroke. But he does look a little early in his development (low rpg/apg) and his FT% might suggest that his 3% is a tad inflated. I do like his upside a lot though, I have him in the lotto-mix. The smooth big-wing "with developing to do" is always a risky though (i.e. Reddish), but I think with his pedigree and current #s, he has a good shot.
Cason Wallace is a guy that is really starting to catch my eye. He is currently a 50% three point shooter, 14-27 on the season, and a great defender. Good size, he could be the Jabari Smith of PGs. Not sure on his handles yet though, can he run a offense, I don't know?
Yeah he checks a lot of boxes as a versatile combo guard. From what I've seen, his handles aren't standout, but they are effective at the college level. It looks a bit high and lacks shake, but he's able to use his body and strength to get past defenders. A north-south driver that doesn't dance around with the ball. Doesn't get much separation, but he has the strength and touch to finish through contact or hit a floater. I like his playmaking mentality. Above average vision and keeps his eyes open to pass. He's currently averaging more assists on lower usage than TyTy did at UK. The reliance on strength and lack of separation is something to monitor. If he's unable to carry that advantage into the NBA, that limits his ceiling as a primary ball handler. But even then, a guard that can effectively switch 1-3, knock down catch and shoot 3's, and will always look to move the ball is a very valuable player.
The teams that can draft Wemby and Scoot will not trade anything for them save a top 5 player who has gone public on his desire to leave his current team. For picks 3-10, the cost to trade up will be more than the actual worth.
Behold the year of the PG?? Beware KPJ, a guard willing to set up his teammates on occasion could be incoming. Someone here said that Brandon Miller overlapped with Jabari too much. I wonder if that is actually a bad thing though. Jalen Green/Sengun with 2 guys that can switch and shoot. Add a real PG with TyTy/KPJ/Garuba/Eason/Josh Christ off the bench and you have something maybe.
