Why? We have Sengun. He's a hell of a player, but he's limited. Let him go make all the monies overseas.
Wallace reminds me of a bigger Kyle Lowry. I'd definitely consider him or Derek Lively if either one falls to the Clippers pick.
I don't necessarily think he has more draft value than Brandon Miller, but I do think Hendricks as well as Gradey Dick are much closer than people are realizing due to the hype. It's another reason I'm not a fan of Miller as a top 5 pick. He's the better prospect, but by how much? We might get a 3-and-D guy who is almost as good, if not better, with the Clippers pick. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see a De'Andre Hunter versus Cameron Johnson type of situation in this draft class, where Miller is just a roleplayer and one of forwards picked later actually ends up slightly outplaying him. Not saying it will happen, but we've seen these situations play out a lot of times when a team takes a "safe" guy in the top 5 picks. In that way, going with the safe older guy can actually, oddly enough, be somewhat risky for a GM. In the top 5, I either want a guy who has serious upside, or, if I'm picking a roleplayer, he better be very good at a lot of different things, i.e. Jarace Walker, who can play elite defense, rebound, pass, score in the paint, and projects to be able to spot-up from the perimeter. Not a big fan of taking roleplayers who rely very heavily on one skill (Miller's shooting) with that high of a pick. Maybe he turns out to be one of the best shooters of all time and it doesn't matter that he's just decent at everything else, but do you really want to bet such a high pick on him being a Klay Thompson, Reggie Miller? Because that's what needs to happen for him to be a star-level player IMO.
To be fait Miller does more than just shoot. At 6'9 he can do a lot like serve as a secondary playmaker and be a pesky defender. But I do agree with you the lines are getting blurrier on who has potential and who doesn't. I mean just look at guys like Franz Wagner, Desmond Bane, Austin Reeves, Jalen Williams and Mikal Bridges. People said these players didn't have a high ceiling look at them today. So while i still like Miller I'm starting to like Jarace Walker even more, because Walker already has a crazy good foundation to build on. He's like an athletic Draymond Green, can defend guys 1-5 and dunk from the free throw line. Can also shoot 3s. People say he tops out as a role player but I dunno man, dude looks like a future DPOY and the Rox sorely need his leadership and mentality. If we get no 2 I'd honestly be ok trading down for Walker and Hendricks. Might even be the correct play these 2 look like beasts.
I'm with you about Walker being great, I'd still take Scoot though. I wouldn't be upset at all with Walker at #3.
I just think good pgs are easy to come by I mean throw 18M at Reeve or the Max at Harden and call it a day. There's also FVV, Dosunmu, D Angelo Russell etc If we get no 2 I guess I'd be pissed if we end up with someone 6'3 lol. Can you imagine a front court of Jabari at C, Walker at PF and Eason at Sf? You can play 5 out on offense and basically switch on everyone on defense it'll be insane.
My guys with the Clippers pick right now are, in this order: Cason Wallace - probably won't drop that far Taylor Hendricks - probably won't drop that far Dereck Lively - might drop that far Any of those three guys improves our defense immediately & contributes on both ends.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i fell in love. has all the potential to be a game changing 2-way player his weaknesses (all dribble creation/finishing and learning to find his man on the defensive boards when the ball goes up) can be taught and improved cat-like quicks reminds me of hakeem love this kid would take him over everybody but vic
Hendricks is growing on me, but taking him in the top 5 would be wildly, insanely against consensus, and for good reason. If you want a good defender who does a lot of great roleplayer things on offense, Jarace Walker is much better--better defender, better rebounder, better passer, better at finishing around the basket, better physical tools. The only major plus Hendricks has over him is 3P shooting, but Walker looks like he will be able to develop into a good shooter. Neither of those guys is easy to project as a lead scoring option in the NBA. That said, I would love to come out of the draft with Hendricks somehow, by trading the Clippers pick up or some such.
I am now firmly on the Dariq Whitehead bus. I think he is gettable with the LAC pick or with a modest move up from there. Whitehead will be a riser I am confident as he rests and heals from his minor in season injuries. I think he would be great as a future 3 off the bench behind Eason giving the second unit some scoring punch.
