As a kid my dream backfield was Dorsett and Campbell.

Earl up the middle and Tony on the edge . Either guy with the moves to take it to the endzone on every play.

Earl would run two guys down then run away from everyone else. Earl was awesome.

My favorite highlight of Earl begins at 2:43 of this clip. First contact is at the 5 yard line. Conclusion of impact is in the endzone. The only place I've seen something like that is in a video game.

Hahaha, my Mexican industrialist associates are quite amused by this.

NFL glory is spelled with 4 letters... E.A.R.L. That's Mister Campbell, who was the best running back ever, IMO, in too brief a career, reaching its greatest height, I've always thought, in that 1978 Miami game on Monday Night Football, when he blew away a nationwide audience as he crushed the Dolphins.

Kudos, Fatty. Always love remembering the Tyler Rose.

I'm almost willing to start a petition for the Texans to retire #34 for Earl Campbell. And I don't even care if the Jersey they put in the rafters is a Texans jersey with "Campbell" on it.

That would spit back at Bud Adams putting Tennessee in Oilers regalia.

EDIT: Actually, I am willing to start a grassroots effort for it.

How do you go about it? Jeff? From saveourrockets.com?

How did you get that ball rolling?

Earl Campbell was only known after he retired. If it wasn't for sports channels he would not even be known.
