True but look at the stats, the complete stats. He is now a veteran QB (5 years in the league) of what many call a Super Bowl caliber team. Looking at his stats can you honestly say he had a good game for a QB?
Mark Bulger passed for the most yards this week. St. Louis lost. Besides his agent, nobody gives a **** about his stats.
So Vick is the reason Atlanta won? Ha ha ha! The reason they won was because of their defense. The defense held Philly to won TD, forced 3 turnovers, and held them on the field at far enough lengths where they missed 2 of 3 field goals. Vick isn't the reason the Falcons won.
so if the Philly kicker makes those kicks...or if the Atlanta defense gives up another TD...then did Vick have a bad game??
I know he had nothing to do with it. That's why when he plays they make the playoffs, when he doesn't they don't.
He's a reason they won. I personally didn't think Vick had a good game yesterday. I wouldn't say he had a bad game either though. He made just enough plays to win.
great, pgabs. now answer the question. how the kicker kicks for the philly is beyond his control. how the defense plays is beyond his control. the mistakes made by mcnabb are beyond his control. with mcnabb, we're talking about how bad he played. he played a game very similar to vick's....but his team came up short. his kicker missed FG's that would have won him the game. kicks that should have been made indoors by a pro kicker. so if that happens...and the box score still reads the same for vick...did he still play a "good" game. if those uncontrollable variables go the other way. guys play good games and still lose. guys play bad games and still win.
The reason your "ifs" are irrelevant is because you don't know how Atlanta would have responded. As Crisco stated, Vick made enough plays for his team to win given the circumstances, McNabb didn't. Period.
the winning QB isn't necessarily the better QB. there are other factors in determining who wins and loses other than just the QB. dan marino never won a super bowl....jim mcmahon did. it's not as simple as saying, "he won." teams win games. teams win championships.
That still doesn't mean he had a good game. Like Max said, you can have a bad game and your team can still win. Get off of Vick's jockstrap and just admit it.
nah, Philly will be alright. i've always sort of liked Philly..mostly because they play the Cowboys so often! But I loved Randall Cunningham. My father had a client in Philly who sent me a Cunningham jersey when I was a kid. It's packed away somewhere. For some reason my 5 year old son likes the Eagles. I cant explain it. I've sufficiently brainwashed him to love Houston teams...but the Eagles are sort of his first sports independence stance
Jim Mora Jr is an overall quality coach, but a moronic within the game tactician in big games (just like his Dad and Marty S). This game shouldn't have been close but Atl played way too conservative and cautious--managing the game not to lose so to speak. And the one time they should have been cautious, 3rd and long in the 4th quarter in field goal range to make a two score lead, they call a slow play and let Dawkins go untouched right into Vick. Anyone with any insight on the Eagles knew a kitchen sink blitz was coming. Not one of Vick's better games at all, but a win is a win. Phily will have to make up 2 games to have home field in the playoffs versus Atl, and Atl will be a whole lot tougher in the dome. Like NE-Indy last year, as big as game as an early season gets and likely playoff seeding implications.
