David could provide some leadership for Mario if he would take off his helmut and smack Mario in the face, over and over. Holy Cow, what a wus. I thought at least he would look motivated and in shape. The Texans spent way too much time in camp patting Mario on the back when they needed to be kicking his but.

Does Where'e Mario have a nickname yet. I nominate Charmin, cause he is so soft.

I also nominate "the guy who is not near as good as Robaire Smith"

    I caught that too.

    Bunch of morons.

also, i forgot to add, man I love how this thread turned on the Texans so quickly.

everybody was all, WOW, look at that. Awesome texans, XLI, here we come!

and now after the 1st quarter, everybody was ready to jump off the bridge.

the game was over when they scored that TD at the end of the half with 11 seconds to go.

Gulp... I sure hope Dayne isn't the difference-maker this year. Lundy or Morency have to step it up (as they showed promise during the preseason).

I do love them no matter what but I am still just shaking my head about our draft picking. I am not being anti-Texan or anything, I just still don't get it. I can understand not picking Young, kind of, but Bush makes no sense to me at all.

On a more serious note, I spent a good part of the first two quarters zoning on on Mario. Wow, not a good game. He was consistently pushed to whichever side the Eagles wanted him pushed. Where did the speed go, where did the strength go. How come he is not in great shape? He has a Mack Truck body and an old lawnmower moter.

Also, when did last years Offensive line replace the new and improved one.
David played like a man, on a time of underacheiving, undermotivared, confuded teamates. Although Mouds and Andre did well.

    LOL Classic.

Bush 140 yards of total offense. Saints win.

Can't pin this one on Carr, he looked pretty decent. But, what about the defense? Wow, they got pushed all over the field. The Ryans kid is impressive, but the Texans couldn't stop jello from rolling uphill. The Eagles made it look way too easy. They must have made a record number of first downs. Did Mario Williams play? Didn't seem like he was out there.

I am not speaking for others, but I don't think (1) folks were thinking the Texans were ready for the Super Bowl after the first drive or two, and (2) I don't think people were jumping off bridges after the 1st quarter.

I do know I was hoping that the team's pass rush would be better than last year's since the team added Williams with the #1 pick and Weaver as an expensive FA acquisition. That, and a new defensive scheme that would hopefully better utilize Babin and Peek.

I do think there were positives in the game... I think Moulds was a solid addition, the team passed to TEs, and the team showed a vertical attack for the first time in, well, the first time. But seeing McNabb have all day to pass, and very little running attack (a few glimmers in the second half).

If this continues, Carr will again be spending all his time getting pealed up off the field. That is, unless Sage is the one getting drilled back there...

i was really reluctant to come in this thread cause i knew where it would go...some kind of comments about our draft pick, among other things.

1st of all its one game. im as disapointed as anyone with the loss but its not about the draft anymore. give over it is as nice i can be right now. im more disapointed with the bandwagon hoping that goes on around here over and over again. if your going to be a texans fan, be a fan. talk about the goods and bads of the GAME.....since this is the game thread. i could say more but i think thats enough venting for now.

about the game though...im disapointed we lost they showed promise. of course the running could of been ALOT better. 80yrs total on the ground, espeically when carr gets nearly a 1/4th of it. the difference in the game, as you could say for any game, came at the line. the texans were purely outplayed on both sides. couldnt get any pressure on the qb, and couldnt stop the run. do any of the 2 and this game is different if you ask me. (the only semi-draft comment im going to make...)granted mario was supposed to help with pressure but he cant do it by himself against double teams. im really happy with ryans, 12 solo tackles - studdly lol.

So a 1-0 team that hypothetically sneaks out a 1-point win over the Niners can talk smack to a 0-1 that hypothetically loses by 1 to the Colts or Steelers? I'm not saying wins are unimportant, but you have to stay within reason. Competition does matter, and New Orleans didn't face much of it today.

Simms sucked, but it's one game. And given he played well for 11 games last season, it's not likely to continue. Also, keep in mind, the Baltimore defense is very good. You might not want to admit it, but strength of competition does matter when you're evaluating players on a sample size as small as one game.

Bottom line: let's wait until New Orleans does more than squeak out a win over one of the worst teams in the league before everyone jumps on the Saints bandwagon.

Sorry uprising but you'd better get used to this kind of reaction. They passed on Bush and took a guy (Mario) who needed to make an impact - any impact - on defense to justify that pick. Well, if you saw the game, you'd know that McNabb faced very little pressure from the defensive line. Worse, they (Texans defense), could not stop the run in the 2nd half when they had to step up and do so. So it wasn't just Mario. Mario had 3 tackles , no sacks, and I believe 1 pressure. Not good by any means and it will only get worse as the season progresses. My big fear here is that this whole Bush-Williams thing will start to snowball on Mario. It did not help at all to hear Howie Long on the Fox pregame show point out that the Texans could have traded down and still pick up Mario. I repeat what I posted yesterday: this will continue until Mario does something to justify his being considered as the no. 1 pick.

As for passing up Bush, they (Texans) will continue to hear about it until they start to produce a running game. I don't think that Morency & Lundy will be able to do much for them in that department - they lack game-breaking speed. Unfortunately, the Texans running game woes may not change until next season.

Carr looked good in the 1st half but once Philly started blitzing, he fell back into the old Carr. This isn't all his fault - Philly was able to disregard the Texans so-called running game and come after Carr. But, by now, you'd want to see him make a play under adverse conditions and he's yet to show that he can do so.

Surprisingly, Carr looked fairly solid out there - for all the concerns people had during the offseason.

Our running game was nonexistant. Hopefully the people that think we are putting too much hope in Denver's 'system' and a combination of Morency and Lundy won't be proven right.

According to 610, Williams was benched on several pass rush situations. I have to agree that he was rather ineffective today.

    Ryans is a stud.

The comment about going to the Super Bowl is a joke, more of a sarcastic moment. Kinda like SPLASH! whenever something happens.

This board is quickly to react at the smallest little things in the game.

why are there so many people still in denial over mario williams...

I thought it was a smart pick at the time, but after watching him just get over powered......what a waste.

call it only 1 game, double teams, nervous jitters, oh he has physical tools...whatever you want it wont' matter, because he sucks.

He may turn out decent, but won't be anywhere near Bush's impact.
