Nolan North does voices for a lot of games, but yeah, this adds to the Naughty Dog -> Insomniac thing.

I wasn't really that impressed by it either for similar reasons. Seems like it could be fun if you're into that kind of thing. Maybe I'll change my mind when we get more than a CG trailer.

Seems like Insomniac is using more CG these days. They didn't seem to ever use them earlier in the generation IIRC. Boo!

Looked pretty stupid. Like most of the Kinect/Move stuff being implemented.

I'm having some doubts about ME3 as it is, although mostly because CD Projekt Red has shown me what BioWare should be doing. I'll probably still get it and enjoy it, but I'm losing interest in BioWare. They used to be cool.

The lead designer did say it would take a while, so gamers should be patient.

It seems like they took a better approach this time. The head of Sony Worldwide Studios (Yoshida I think?) seemed to be pretty down to Earth and conscious about what price points would work/not work. IIRC, maybe around the time they announced it, he noted that while they weren't ready to give a price, they had a certain target price in mind. Something they setup as a target 2-3 years ago, and he was confidant they'd hit it. Presumably $250 was that target. Probably a better approach than some of the previous efforts.

Yoshida actually has some pretty good interviews. One of the better execs IMO.

That also works because the story is dumb and doesn't make any sense. Whether you pickup the game after an hour or a month, it makes no difference. It is still lousy.

Most good RPGs have something like a datalog these days.

I don't even think it is that so much. Past FF games weren't shining examples of non-linear gameplay (and as bad as FF13 is in that department, it does open up later in the game).

I'd be fine with "corridor" gameplay, if they just made the rest of the game good. They didn't. Well...at least it was pretty.

Move stuff looks horrible. Can't believe they spent time on that.

Kobe: "This isn't realistic at all." Yeah I bet they were happy to hear that.

Oh, that's right. I'd forgotten all about the MMO. That's too bad.

I won't deny the story itself is beyond stupid.

I haven't played any recent RPGs outside of FF. I just don't have time anymore. If I have free time I prefer playing retro titles on my Wii.

They didn't give you a map for everyplace in the game and give you a marker for where you are supposed to go and have such straight paths through the entire game like this one. It is more open on Gran Pulse, but still it tells you exactly where to go. I would have hated it back when I played for hours every day.

Any word on Bioshock Infinite? Definitely one of the games I'm most looking forward to.

I love the feature to play the game on the controller when someone else wants to watch tv.

EDIT- it reminds me of a life-size Nintendo DS or something. Instead of a dual screen, you have a 6 inch controller screen and a tv.

    Project Cafe= Wii U

You can play the whole games just via the Controller Screen instead of the TV Screen.

    Controller:
    HD Touch Screen
    Microphone
    Speaker
    Accelerator
    Browser Function
    Drawing Function

You can also use the Controller Screen to aim in Games or to move, etc.

    OMG

I, for one, LOVED FF12. They should have did FF13 like that and improved upon it.

Seein how they had this kind of Gun with the Controller as your vision, imagine that with COD, BF and other shooters.
Also playin bein able to play everything via controller, this will be hard to pass on as a gamer.

Damn it's like Dreamcast times 100. Anybody see that Madden won't have the playbook on screen, but on the controller. Looks really cool, I'll buy it for sure. I wonder how the controller will cost. 100 bucks maybe.......:(

the most important thing is that Nintendo is finally adding online and letting third party developers in the know this time. Battlefield 3 is going to be sick with the scope on the controller and Madden is going to change with the control giving you first person view on catching the football etc...

The Wii U is just... blah. Unless you want to play the exclusives, are people, who already have the 360 and/or PS3 gonna fork over the money to buy the Wii U (it's not going to be cheap) and wait a year and a half for decent library of games?

just blah? really? They offered a very interesting idea in the controller in addition to the "hardcore gamer" level of graphics. Revealing new hardware is usually more fun than just new game previews

Nintendo's exclusive can, and have, always carried them before. I don't see why that would change now.

I doubt it would be a year and a half for a decent library, but it could very well be 6-8 months. BUt still, the Wii managed to do just fine with a minimal library at first...and really, how rich and deep are those libraries when any new console comes out?

I'm kind of with Canadiandude. Just watched the Nintendo press conference and had a blah reaction. It has amazing opportunities, but I'm not convinced there will be great games on it. I have a Wii and probably played it less than 30 hours total due to just not being interested in the games. I know they trotted out EA and rolled the montage of developers that are working on the new console. But they did the same thing for the Wii, and third party support was dismal for it.

Can we expect to see a slew of party games or are these developers going to sink resources in innovating for the new system? What's going to happen in 2-4 years when Sony and MS have new consoles out with better graphics and it's not as easy to port games to the inferior graphics system? Will games released in the next few years or so on all three consoles really differ that much on the Wii U?

I thought it was bizarre that they kept hyping that I could play the system while someone else watches TV. That's a situation that would never arise in my house. They showed a few options on how gameplay could be adapted to the controller, but they didn't seem to focus much on it and I'm not convinced third party developers will really innovate there. The graphics looked nice on that final montage of games, but I would have liked to seen how the controller was being used to play the game.

And the name Wii U is pretty lame. I didn't think I could be more underwhelmed than the original Wii system name, but Nintendo has done it.

I won't be an early adopter of this system, but I will watch with a great deal of interest in the quality of games that are released for it. I was hoping to be blown away in the conference. I wasn't shaking my head in disgust, but I did have a "that's it?" reaction. Maybe if the information hadn't been slowly leaked over the last month I would have had a different reaction.

Or maybe Reggie just sucks at giving press conferences.

There's about a billion possibilities on the Wii U. Developers would be absolutely r****ded not to capitalize on it, especially EA sports. This this system looks like it was made for Madden.

I'm surprised that they didn't change the name though. The name "Wii" has a bad stigma among the hardcore gamers. I was expecting a new name and new look in general.

    No matter, I'm still pumped.

Oh, and Kid Icarus looks so boss.

It's more like a new console cycle, I think. Kind of like 'why buy a PS3/360 when I already have a PS2 and there won't be any decent games for XXX months'. It's what all new system launches go through.
