Didn't seem like it to me.

You did it here again. If you don't want to buy it, that's fine. But don't insult people who do want to.

They do raise smartphone prices, and they come out much more frequently.

    Original iPhone was $499.

Have I played the Wii U? Yes

    Do I own one? No.

Who gives a crap if it comes with an overpriced stupid controller? Hey look, Xbox One let you be the controller. Xbox One also comes with a controller of unknown price.

Original iPhone was $499...current generation which is literally 6 iterations later is $650. You seem to be having trouble grasping the concept.
Not to mention they all pretty much cost $200 because most people get a phone with a contract and don't pay the unsubsidized price.

PS3 was launching a new optical disc tech (in $1000+ devices at the time IIRC), a radical new CPU architecture that smoked anything else out there (albeit it had its own problems, but it was great at what it did), and a top of the line GPU. Also had a good jump in RAM compared to PS2. As I mentioned, even at $600, they were losing hundreds of dollars on every system sold.

Xbox One is using a common disc tech found in tons of devices. A pretty weak CPU (even weaker than current-gen consoles in some ways). A mid-range GPU. Good jump in RAM size, though using DDR3 instead of higher speed RAM. It depends on how crazy Kinect is, but they should be able to profit on systems @ $500 (if not at launch, shortly after).

Essentially, 360/PS3 offered more top-of-the-line tech than what the Xbox One (and PS4) offer. 360/PS3 offered pretty good jumps (including standard HDDs), or else I think we would have stuck with the standard $300 price.

A lot of what Xbox One does is on the software side. Hardware wise, there's not a lot that differentiates it from say 360/PS3 (just more RAM, HW support for sleep states, more HDD, etc., but that's expected after 7+ years).

Not going to discuss this with you further, I already said I don't care what you buy. I'm just pointing out that people who are arguing that this is just a normal price jump are gullible.

Overpriced and stupid...a controller with a touch screen, NFC, bluetooth, a camera, etc etc built in to it that you can play full games on. Yeah, you definitely know what you're talking about.

This is 8 years later. It isn't about the generations. It is about the length of time that has past. Have you seen how much cheaper prepaid plans are than the subsidized plans? You are paying for the phone, just doing it over the time. Like the Xbox 360 that costs $99.

You seem to have a problem grasping simple logic.

EA seems like they're trying too hard with NBA Live again.

You're trying to have a conversation about cell phone pricing when it was an analogy...good lord you're failing. Done talking about this too.
When the original NES came out it was $199.00 in 1985! When the SNES came out 6 years later it was...you guessed it $199. Guess how much the N64 was?

like dribbling is priority #1, so i guess nba live will be good in 3 or 4 years after everything else comes together.

Didn't even see gameplay on Live, so who knows about that. Meh.

And I'm not even a big 2K fan.

nba live looks terrible, just has that fake look that they had in previous live games, and I thought they were changing names.

It's the same ****, different year. They always try to push these gimmicks through with Madden and NBA Live. Sad because I can't buy any other football game, I have to settle for Madden.

    "Here's gameplay"

    *shows zoomed in replays*

Grass tech is much improved, right? I haven't really kept up with the latest PS3/360 versions of sports games, but looks like they're using next-gen tech good there. Too bad it still seems like next-gen crowds have the same problems as current-gen crowds.

I don't know about you, but I buy my consoles to play on my TV, not my little screen. That is what my DS is for. If I didn't need the console still, it might add some real value.

Wow, a camera? You just told me you wanted your system for video games...

    Bluetooth? Okay?

    NFC? Okay?

Touch Screen? I don't like touch screens all that much.

Might as well just made an App and let my use my cell phone as a controller...

Sad part is, my son's Leapad does most of that, and I only paid $30 for it.
