The strange thing is one of Sony's execs gave a target sales number for this fiscal year that was high enough to imply a price cut.

    Sorry I missed this...

I don't know exactly how the system works (and what is causing those problems), or how things would work with these games. But I too think that this should solve those problems. I'd think that if you never had any problems playing XBLA games, this wouldn't be any different.

Hmm...I've been out of the loop when it comes to this stuff for a while, but I'm guessing it has broken even or even made small profits on system sales for a while now. Under normal economic situations, a Spring/Summer price cut would be a no-brainer. But with the current conditions, they probably don't want to go back to making a loss on the PS3. Wonder if PSP Go R&D (among other things) maybe had an influence too...

Maybe the Slim will play a part in that (although I hope a Slim will bring with it a price cut).

Anyway, finally had some time to quickly go through most of the major stuff.

I think I said this in another thread, but Natal does look pretty cool. I do have some doubts, which I'd like be reassured of, but I'm excited to see more of this tech. As has been mentioned, the Milo stuff was interesting from a technical standpoint, but a little weird and creepy in reality. Hopefully it isn't too expensive. I saw some report/rumor that said it would be released for $200, but that doesn't seem right (haven't had a chance to follow-up and see if that as all BS...probably). On a side-note, I thought it was amusing to the see the video of a kid playing a skateboard game with Natal, shortly after Tony Hawk unveiled the new skateboard peripheral.

Splinter Cell did indeed look great. I was worried that it might not look too great given the development issues the game has had, but that clearly isn't the case. As I mentioned earlier, I also liked seeing something from Alan Wake. It was good to see that SE seems to be doing good job with the 360 port. And the English voices were...um...well, I guess they could be worse, but I think my expectations have risen a bit due to playing several games with great VA. Oh well...not really a big deal. I was hoping that a little more was mentioned about MGS:R, but I guess we'll have to wait for that. Should be interesting to see the direction the franchise takes with the new game.

Nintendo's conference did seem a lot better than last year's, at least from what I can recall. The Metroid announcement was definitely a surprise, and it looks pretty interesting. Not really my kind of games for the most part, but good stuff overall. BTW, what is the deal with the vitality sensor? I haven't really kept up on that. Nintendo will probably give a better example of its capabilities later, but I was trying to figure out why I'd want to use it for game.

As I mentioned earlier, I was really impressed with Uncharted 2. Even though we already saw The Last Guardian, the bit of extra video (and polished visuals) was really nice. I was impressed by MAG from a technical standpoint (although I don't really have any interest to play it). Modnation Racers, while not nearly as "magical" as LBP, does seem like it could be pretty good (seems really easy to create tracks). GoW 3 looked great...and very graphic. Seemed way more graphic than I would have expected, but that is Kratos. The wand stuff is OK. Impressive tech, but I don't really know how much I'd want to use it in some games. I know you could throw a fireball in an RPG, but that doesn't mean I'd want to. But like all tech, it just takes the right software to make it standout. The EyePet thing looks pretty cool. Glad to see that Sony and Rockstar finally figured out what direction to take with their PS3 game (also glad to hear that Rockstar North will be developing it). Disappointed that they still aren't far enough to show anything. FFXIV announcement was interesting, but I don't really have any interest in MMOs. Speaking of which, it seems like a lot of MMOs get announced for the PS3, but very few (or um...none?) are getting released.

PSP Go price was not good. I did expect a "premium" price, but for that price, the PSP Go needs a little more (more space, touch screen, etc.). A shame since it seems like the PSP is getting some great games (MGS:pW looked nice...although very "WTF?" as well).

I have had some time to check out a few other videos. More Mass Effect 2 (which I don't think was at the MS conference...although maybe the EA one). Bayonetta still looking good. Definitely impressed by Scribblenauts (Rokkit already has a thread about it). I thought I saw some stuff from Crytek about the PS3/360, but it didn't seem like much more than what was released a while back. Still eager to see how the new engine fares on the consoles (and more importantly, how developers take to it). Didn't see anything from id, which was a bit disappointing. Also no new SMT announced (not counting the Persona 1 port/remake), although I didn't really expect anything like that at E3. Maybe TGS...or probably some random time, which is what Atlus usually does.

edit: And now I finally see that Kojima has already talked about Rising and Peace Walker..reading now. Oh...he's not directing Rising...bring on the "spin-off!" remarks I guess.

edit2: Saw this, thought it was funny (live reaction of the FF14 announcement):
    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/puOiYZE7B1w&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/puOiYZE7B1w&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Well, this is the new video game thread, so I wanted to throw this out there. Anyone who plays Guitar Hero: WT on the 360 should check out Live ASAP. For FREE download is Stan Bush's "The Touch" from the original Transformers movie. It's a 2007 remake, but it's just about as good as the original. Go get it! NOW!

That was basically my reaction when watching it live. "What??? What??? 2010 release...how???" My first thought was that he meant FF13 Versus and accidentally said FF14, but then it was clear that he meant exactly what he said. Then I heard it was a MMORPG and I lost all interest.

Mostly buy, at least recently. But I don't really own a lot of games either...meaning I don't normally play a lot of games (at least, not as many as I'd like).

BTW, you can finally watch The Last Guardian in HD now since Sony has their E3 conference up on the PSN. For some reason, it seems like they haven't uploaded a TLG-specific trailer, but that can be found online. Here's one link:

I don't think many sites have put those out yet, at least the ones I checked. Seems like only 1UP:

I would like to put together a thread asking the same question, but I haven't even watched enough to know what should be in the running.

    Watching a few more videos.

Wish I would have seen Just Cause 2 earlier. Thought it looked good early-on, but this walkthrough was still pretty surprising (in a good way):

Split Second (a Burnout-esque game I guess) seems like it might interesting:

For the Batman fans, I think Gamersyde has the intro to the game.

    ? a flying dog/chicken?

Yeah. I don't really buy too many games either, they are expensive plus you need to allocate time.

I think the only game I will buy this year is Modern Warfare.

Ironically I've been watching tons of Bluray.

I'm the same way as y'all. I'm pretty hesitant to buy games. I got Infamous and that one was worth it. I'll probably only get about five or six more this year. MW2 is definitely on that list. Things are so damn pricey though.

    Tinman you on PSN?

Hmm...has anyone kept up on reports on Natal/Milo? I was skimming a few threads at NeoGAF, and it seems like there was some "smoke and mirrors" with these presentations (at least Milo anyway, not sure about Natal). Seems like the Milo video they showed was just a concept (scripted and all that good stuff I guess?). Disappointing, but not too surprising (I should have realized this sooner). But I don't think they've worked on it too much, so who knows what they can do in another 12 months or so.
