It's amazing. I'm pretty sure that average attendance in MLS last year was around 15,000. 25,400 is second for the first weekend, attendance ranged from over 18,000 to 27,000.
I just got home from the game. That was awesome, getting to see a 5-2 thrashing, a player score a hat trick +1 and a bicycle kick in the first game! This is going to be a great season.
I only got to see part of the second half. But man that was fun to watch. The Dynamo was in total control of the field -- nice to see some home field advantage around these parts. The crowd was loud, and a bicycle kick to seal the deal...that just rocked. I hope I get to go to one of the games soon. Looks like a lot of fun.
Just got home and, wow, the atmosphere was fantastic. You couldn't tell it was the first game! Everyone seemed into it and yelling all the time. I was right behind the rapids' goalie in the 2nd half (Cannon?) and everyone was heckling him the entire time. The only thing that sucked was the long line for tickets but that was remedied by letting everyone in for free 30 minutes after the game started. I can't wait to go again
