What games did you watch, sir? Certainly, you didn't watch any of BLANCO's games... did you happen to watch any of Beckham's? Maybe the few he played? http://ballhype.com/story/chicago_tribune_s_take_on_blanco_vs_beckham/ Blanco vs. Beckham http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_48/b4060058.htm And, finally, THIS ONE, 2008: http://web.mlsnet.com/mls/events/al...&content_id=175476&vkey=allstar2008&fext=.jsp Blanco and Beckham past their prime? Gimme a break, man.
lol this is a joke, right? Baseball is head and shoulders more popular in Texas than soccer The fact is, the soccer players in US high schools are the ones who couldn't make the football, baseball or basketball teams. Sorry. Somebody had to say it
Hello. I do not like soccer and need to jump into threads made about it to prove my dislike of the sport. If I don't, I fear people will think I'm uncool. Trust me, nobody hates soccer more than me!
Is it not possible that high school soccer players are the ones who...gasp...have played soccer their entire lives? Is there a moment in the day where you're not a jackass? If there is, use that moment to finally post something that's of use. Otherwise, go start UT bashing thread #1232123423 and quit being a troll. Sorry. Somebody had to say it, brah.
That's just stupid. Yes, baseball is head and shoulders more popular in Texas than football (the other one, not American football). But to suggest that these athletes couldn't make the other teams is ignorant. Football is so much more physically demanding than baseball, it isn't even close. These athletes, the ones who've played all their lives, are extremely well conditioned.
KHOU had a report about the stadium and showed some computer renderings of what it will look like. It's very basic with a capacity of about 21K. http://www.khou.com/video/news-index.html?nvid=328757&shu=1
A. TSU has only six home games. B. TSU will pay $2.5 million annually to play there C. TSU will split its profits on concessions and parking
The Dynamo will control scheduling so they can make sure there is plenty of time to remove markings before their games. Also, they probably won't be putting as many markings on the field. It will likely just be the lines and not the entire endzones painted and logos all over the field. TSU also has political pull in the city and having them on board helps get the deal done.
Screenshots I did below from the KHOU article (props to Nobius from BS for the host & post) Like I posted in BigSoccer, these screens of the most detailed elevations have me thinking Allianz Arena due to the use of what appears to be Teflon or EFTE panels wrapping the stadium's concourses, thus shading the concourse while keeping the area open enough for breezes to flow through. Its a smart, cost-friendly idea by the Dynamo that will really improve the fan experience without having to break the bank. Also, this opens to possiblity that these panels could be lighted at night, producing a glowing effect on the building's exterior, just like Allianz Arena. Also, based on the gray-scale, structural model shots, it appears the lower half of the bowl will be below street grade while the upper half of the bowl will be above street-level grade. (Kinda like Toyota Center) This design will enable the main (and only) concourse (with bathrooms, concessions, and retail) to be all located at street level. In my opinion, a solid prelim concept to use as a basepoint for the official design. Cant wait to see the final plans!
Oliver Luck gave an update on the stadium situation last night, a brief rundown is that they've got a bank willing to finance it, they've hired an architecture firm that is about half done with the design, and they expect to start work this fall and it will be done by the opening of the 2011 season. You can listen to the podcast here, the interview starts around the 25 minute mark of the first hour.
KHOU: New Dynamo stadium is done deal http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou090324_mh_dynamo-stadium.694b5ecd.html
The city and county are contributing 10 million each. The money is coming from the expected increase of property taxes in the area around the stadium, not from the general tax fund. So the only people who's taxes will in any way contribute to it are land owners in that immediate area, and they won't be paying more than they normally would. It looks like KHOU changed the headline to be a bit more accurate. I liked the old one better.
