I covered the game for a local paper and let me just say...YOU try putting together a pro franchise and relocating in just three months...it's quite difficult, and honestly, the organization did a fine job for only having 3 months to acquire a place to play, locker rooms, employees, and such...it's going to be disorganized and hellish for the first year or so...Dynamo President Oliver Luck said they had to do in 3 months what most teams get a year or year and a half to do...so kudos to the dynamo...

overall its a great product...I wasnt a huge soccer fan before but I am now...and I never knew Houston had such a passion for soccer! It's great to see, and I think the Dynamo will fourish here in H-Town...25000 for the first game is a damn nice turnout, considering league average is around 15-18 or so...

I agree. The Texans didn't have a perfect first season, but listened to the fans before the next season.

    It'll get better.

Damn! I checked online and they don't seem to have those tickets in the middle, lowest section on the field.

    Oh well...

Julio, to be honest there's not a bad seat in the stadium...

no matter how far up, you'll still feel like you're a part of the game...

I took a picture of your group, DrLudicrous... I will post later... whenever I can find my USB cable...

I was in 217, and started the "Ole!" in the second half... :D

Overall, I am glad there are plenty of caucasian dudes and latinos and others getting together for a good time while booing the ref for not handing out a quick RED card to that Rapids' defender... :D

Try to get tickets on the Scott St. side if you don't want to sit in the sun.

This was in Justice's blog this morning:

    http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2006/04/on_opening_day.html

My media friends in the Bay Area had warned me that Tim Leiweke, head of the Dynamo's parent company, AEG, could be difficult. They were right.

In his first news conference in Houston, he ripped the University of Houston for its handling of negotiations on a Robertson Stadium lease.

Get this: his team hadn't even played a game, and he's already threatening to leave. Some honeymoon.

If the Dynamo don't get local ownership, more unpleasant days may be ahead.

It was great to see a diverse crowd there enjoying the beutiful game.

What are some simple chants in Spanish that we could sing?

AEG are crap owners, the only reason they have anything to do with soccer and MLS is to get control over stadiums, the team succeeding or failing is secondary to them.

I heard on Fox Soccer Channel that AEG who also owns the L.A. Galaxy have struck a deal with Chelsea F.C. The deal includes sending young players to develop here as well as a tourney between Chelsea and AEG owned teams, and so forth. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing MLS teams competing against premiership quality, especially if it were live at Roberston Stadium. Here is a link: Chelsea Announce U.S. Alliance with AEG

The Galaxy get special treatment, in the end that's the only team that AEG has any interest in owning long term. But that is a good deal, other teams have similar deals set up with Mexican teams but don't really do much with it.

Seeing Dynamo vs. Chelsea would be great. Barcelona is touring the US later this year and there were talks about a stop in Houston but they decided against it, hopefully in the future we'll be able to get friendlies like that.
