Titan Rick has to be the worst caller. I immediately turn the dial when any of the shows takes his calls. I didn't hear the exchange he had with Lopez, but I find it really hypocritical of him to find a bit they did offensive when he always uses the term "r****ded" to slam Texans' fans.
I HATE Gwinn. His voice is ridiculously annoying and he contributes nothing. Sometimes when I drive around the the late morning I switch around looking for something to listen to and I try to give him a chance, but I can never make it through a full segment. Mid morning radio is terrible in Houston. Josh is better than Gwinn, but I don't care for either of them. Don't like Tim Brando either, he just seems like an old school guy who refuses to recognize 'outsiders.' Very out of touch radio.
Pretty sure it is a take on the Manfred Mann song "Mighty Quinn" which was originally written by Bob Dylan. I'll echo what others have said... 790 is solid all day with the exception of this dude.
I don't care for Gwinn. His delivery is forced and I can't when hosts purposely say ridiculous things to get feedback. The callers that call in to his show are just as bad. He is baiting you people! All you need to know about him is that he was a traffic guy before getting this gig. Michael Berry wanted someone cheap to replace Ted DeLuca and Gwinn was already in house and came cheap I'm sure. He also admitted to Lesbian Craig on the Houston Media Watch site that he eventually wants to work in political talk radio. That rubs me the wrong way. To me, to do a good job in sports radio, it has to come off that you love what you are doing and that you have a passion for it. He apparently doesn't.
He is the worst I've heard on local radio. I stopped listening to him when he wouldn't get over the Kubiak contract extension. I tuned in briefly in March and he was still going on about it. Every show, that was his topic. The other day, I tuned in hoping to catch Matt Thomas, but he was on. He had a position that if you rooted for the Rangers, but not the Cowboys, you were a hypocrite. I couldn't believe he was making that argument with a straight face.
10 oclock is pretty much dead. Innes is not any better. Really the only show I can listen to on a daily basis is Charlies, by far the most intelligent host and he gets the most intelligent callers. And he actually talks sports 100% of the time what a great concept for sports radio!
I actually enjoy him, granted he talks about his blog non stop. I enjoy him and Matt Thomas when they have their 10 minute discussion. Today's segment sucked because he talked non stop about Lebron and his Nike commercial. He likes the teams most people hate the Yankees and the Lakers. I personally can't stand Charlie the most, I usually stop listening to sports for an hour and then switch to Carl Dukes from 4-7. But in the end I would rate Matt Thomas #1, Matt and Adam #2 because usually I am not awake when they are on, #3 Dylan Gwinn.
And like most people have said he does get some real bad callers, he seems to get Titan Rick, Lamont, some cowboy guy, and Rocket Mike all of them are horrible.
You know it's interesting, there have been countless times where I have to turn a station just because I can't handle listening to some idiot caller. This almost never happens with CP's show. Either they have some great call screening, or Charlie controls the calls enough to stop the callers before they go too far off the deep end. Or I guess a little bit of both. I've heard what are clearly sounds like 12 year old kids call to CP's show before and even they sound more intelligent than most of what calls into 610 all day. Whatever they are doing really raises the level of the show. And yeah, the rest of 790 is pretty solid. Matt and Adam, CP, Thomas isn't my favorite but I can at least listen to the show.
Does anyone else need closed captioning for when Titan Rick calls? Can someone forward this message to him? Do they let people like Titan Rick use the Internet in prisons? Yeah, I went there.
I miss the Adam Clanton Experience on 610, his jvg and jim rome were the best... why have you forsaken me 610? btw he sometimes comes out on the matt and adam show on 790

I dont know the demographics but I'd guess he attracts an older audience/more educated and folks that have been listening to him for years. 610 just turns into a mess with people trash talking it can be mid june and randomly a show will turn into a houston/dallas thing. And its 2010 but still get the TExans need to get VY! or Yao ming is just another Shawn BRadley.and as mentioned people bringing up race on every issue. Actually recall a caller saying Biggio is a racist because he doesnt give back to the inner city ahhhhh.... 790 is where its at. welll except for the dylan gwinn apparently.though i havent listened enough to him to have a real strong opinion.....
Dylan Gwinn sucks. He also said Daryl Morey was a mediocre GM when we didn't land Bosh. He said something along the lines that Houston has never had a good GM, so he kind of stands out as being great when's he's not
