That was really sad and emotional. A fact that he is able to understand all that stuff and be able to enjoy the rest of his days was really something. God bless him and his family.
A great story and a reminder to live your life to the fullest and do what you can to leave the World a better place than when you got here.
Wow what a story. That kid is extremely brave and mature for an eleven year old. If I knew I would be dead in a week I would be flipping out right now and I wouldn't sleep at all.
What a great kid. Does anyone want to volunteer at a soup kitchen with me? Suddenly I feel like a terrible person...
Cool story. Cool kid. Stuff like this probably happens a lot but doesn't make it onto the news. On a side note, I think its corny when people make it a point to tell you all the great stuff they did. If you can do all this stuff - volunteer, donate, etc. and keep it quiet, that makes you great to me.
That puts everything in my life in perspective! Sometimes I get caught up in the "difficulties" of law school, but seeing something like that really gives you a reality check. My supposed "difficulties" aren't even 1/millionth of the difficulties he faces, yet he doesn't let it affect him. Very sad, but inspirational!
Yes it would have but that very chapter in Luke happened to be the one on this same day (11/10) in the daily Methodist devotional that I get, so it felt like short-cutting to use it. Instead I went with: 2 Corinthians 9 "6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." 10Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." Kind of long for a devotional but it captured so many aspects of Brenden's story: generosity, cheerfulness, selflessness, grace, thansgiving and poverty even.
