    At first, I considered that statement to be very "un-olympic".

    But then I think about all those people making money off of them like TV networks and venue owners. Guess the players should also get their piece of the pie...

    Isn't that the whole reason we are allowed to send pros? Because USSR paid their players? I wish it would go back to college kids and semi-pros.

    apollo came out of retirement to fight Drago for charity! he gave his life and this fool wade is talking about getting paid to represent his country. I'm getting too old for this sh...stuff.

    Wanting and thinking it "would be nice" are two different things.

    "I don't open doors for people for the money, but it would be nice if they paid me to."

    That being said, i dont believe others get paid to participate, so they shouldnt either. They do get paid for winning medals, but i guess that's not enough for Wade.

    Well, golds value is through the roof. If they win the gold, he can just pawn his medal off for some nice cash! :eek:

    I know a lot of countries pay their athletes an x amount for medalling at the olympics... maybe he's referring to that which is fine... but thats chump change for these guys. I think it was a mistake for him to say this.

    The IOC gets paid. Lots of people get paid except the athletes.
