In the age of Twitter and numerous NBA insiders, ESPN really looks ridiculous in some of their reporting. Now the angle is Dwight to the Lakers. Not only is that the angle, its in full swing with multiple segments about in on Sportscenter. The fact that they are quoting a insider form RealGM is sad. They hardly mention that a 3rd team is "needed" to get him to LA. Just want the average viewer to believe Howard will end up in LA no matter what. ESPN big market bias has always been huge, but with the Lin situation and with Howard talk they have really shown there true colors. Now that Lin is a Rocket, it is pretty amazing how much more negative they are towards him now. Heck, First Take has become a bash session. Talking about Lin to Houston they just dog the Rockets roster without throwing in the obvious that it would be a very different team with Howard or Bynum. You guys know this, but I just needed to vent the obvious.

In other words, they're waiting on the Rockets and Asik.

    lol... I hear you.

While I am sure Lin will get his share of bashing, my early picks for the "Free T-Will" type posts are on White or Jones. (obviously depending on who's here after the likely trade goes down)

Going to laugh when we end up with both Lin and Howard. Smith will probably commit seppuku.

As long as it's not Morris again. Dude showed me almost NOTHING in summer league, and he should've been beasting it up down there.

He literally just tweets out rumors that other people post. It's like if one of us decided to make a twitter account claiming to be an insider.

I feel you man. It's not "Lin to Houston," it's "Lin leaves New York."

    It's "Howard to L.A." everyday.

Like a poster above said, we will all laugh and have fun if/when Howard ends up here and they're forced to react.

yes I agree, they also do not mention that Bynum's agent David Lee just said that Cleveland was never a preferred destination for Bynum. So I'm sure Cleveland is out.

I actually think that this whole LAL/CLE/ORL trade thing is Dwight's camp feeding mis-information to BSPN talking heads to try and push Houston back to the table to up their offer to actually try and get Bynum in a third part deal.

I do not think its Hennigan alone because he would probably prefer to trade Howard to Houston "if all else fails" around the start of training camp if he could. He has plenty of time to wait and see if another suitor randomly pops in the door(like OKC) with a better offer. Dwights camp probably wants LA Right Now.

I think Orlando really wants no part of a One to One Bynum/Lakers deal in all honesty.

Think about it. What does Orlando really want here... its well documented that they want to hit the restart button. Shed bad contracts, draft picks, young players.... bam... Rockets. The Lakers can only give you a lesser version of what you already had. And what you already had didnt work before.

If they trade for Bynum straight up even with a guarantee that he will re-sign long term, their team looks.... well exactly how it looked before, but with a lesser quality big man in Bynum. Add to that the health, and maturity issues Bynum has shown and there are a million reasons to go in another direction, and there is all the reason in the world for Hennigan to turn his nose up to LA. It has to be Dwights camp and Fagan that are pushing this deal so damn hard.

If Orlando trades for Bynum, Davis stays, Turkaglo stays, Richardson stays, and Duhon.... still there. I could see that team in the east finishing in the 7th or 8th seed year after year, after year, and we all know.... the worst place you want to be is right smack dab in the middle. Thats what a straight up Bynum/Howard deal means for Orlando. Hennigan is too smart of a GM already to want that.

So I believe Dwights camp thinks throwing Cleveland out there as being "very close" to facilitating a Dwight deal to get Bynum is going to intice Morey back to the table to try and salvage some sort of a deal for the Rockets and take on Bynum and his 80 year old man knees, and finally get Dwight to the Lakers.

Dont get me wrong, Morey would probably love to take Bynum in a deal, but no way is he going to pay anywhere near what Orlando wants in return just for Bynum and Orlando's junk contracts. Bynum, comes with alot of risk, and doesn't guarantee your team anything long term despite his youth its a huge gamble.

I'm pretty sure every agent in the history of sports has uttered that same statement.

I think it's painfully obvious from the comments made by Morey and Les in the Lin PC that we are still gunning for Dwight.

Do you feel like that pick could help us if thrown into a deal?

absolutely! it's actually better than a late 1st rounder, cause the contract isn't guaranteed! this will def. be a sweetener.

Yes. If anything, it can't hurt the deal.

Gotcha. This is kind of what I was looking for. I know the question was sort of an obvious one but I was hoping one of you would come up with a detail like this. Thanks.

    maybe.... MAYBE throw in jones
    2 1st rd picks
    2 2nd rd picks

that's one great expiring contract, a serviceable player on a rookie salary, rookie with high upside (MAYBE!), guaranteed lottery pick + additional 1st rd pick AND a 2nd rd pick that is essentially better than a late 1st along w/ an additional 2nd.
