No way. If this whole mess is annoying in the summer, Orlando doesn't want tot deal with it in the season

Seems like Orlando wants the world for Dwight...but nobody is listening without a commitment from him to stay long term

This will work out in our favor. We are the only ones willing to take on a "rental"

where is all this talk about dwight preferring dallas over houston coming from. there was talk when dwill was a "possibility" to the mavs, but now wheres it coming from?.. screamin a smith insists dwight wants dallas and said no to houston.. where is this proof that dwight has said definite NO to houston.. i know something came out that he wanted brooklyn but everything else sounds like speculation.. until dwight howard stops being a p***y and releases a statement that says "dont trade me to houston". i think these reporters need to stfu.. espny is complete bs, they reported melo to the nets last year as a done deal.. screamin a is a ny homer to the max..

any chance that orlando is stalling to watch as many summer league games as they can to determine what young prospects they actually want?

Rockets are holding out on a deal to see what happens with the Lin and Asik situations.

this is actually a legit point (good job rezdawg). The international/global market for endorsements could far exceed any local/US endorsements that even the NY Media can't promise. As someone who travels internationally and works in China a lot, I can assure you that Dwight could potentially get a BIGGER deal targeted in the Chineses/Asian markets (including Korea, Japan, etc). A pairing with Lin would naturally attract international players the way Yao did.

He's probably to dumb (sorry) to understand global market ramifications in the current age but then thats what the 'one year rental' will help demonstrate (hopefully).

First it was "Dwight wants only Brooklyn", then it's "Dwight wants LA" since it now seems like LA can't find a third team to facilitate a deal now it's "Dwight wants Dallas".

For the life of me, I don't know why Houston would want to deal with it in season. Morey needs to cool it and pull away from the table. Leave Orlando with their upset diva until the trade deadline and then fleece them. Waiting until the trade deadline accomplishes three things:

    1) It allows us to see if Dwight is the same player post back surgery. He may be but there is no guarantee.

    2) It will be Orlando's last chance to deal him, making them more desperate.

    2) It allows us (and Orlando) to see our young guys in real game action.

If they somehow work a trade with LA, Atlanta, Cleveland, etc... then so be it, we go with our youth. I would not consider overpaying for Dwight until I have seen him play multiple games to make sure his back is okay. Besides, I think we would get the best deal at the trade deadline due to Orlando being desperate.

I suspect that's exactly the sticking point with all potential trading partners.

Teams are willing to pay high relative to a DH rental/team audition, but Orlando's probably treating the negotiations like they're trading him with a guaranteed extension.

I doubt any GM in the right mind is willing to lose key assets and take on dubious contracts to Orlando's satisfaction to play DH extension lotto.

Until DH commits to some place that he can be traded to, Orlando and DH are both screwed.

The Rockets can offer this package Dec/Jan 15:

    Lin + Patterson + Morris + White
    + TOR pick
    + DAL pick

    Patience!

It will get done, but there is no hurry. The Rox will offer only what they want to give, the Magic will ask for everything. But, we can walk away and play the assets, even to try again next year. They stand to come out with nothing.

    They will blink first.

Could be that Magic are waiting to see how Lopez preforms then make a deal after Jan 15 with Nets if they like what they see or with someone else if they don't.

I don't see it. Lopez is terrible and I think Dwight has played his last game as a Magic.
