Why are people in love with Smith last I checked he said he was happy with Atlanta and said he would love to have Dwight on their team.I doubt Ferry trades Smith. They will build around Smith/Horford and they have money to go after Dwight next year.

Starting to feel like Howard or Bynum are gonna happen sooner or later. I think the real fun will begin with all the rumors that are gonna come on Moreys next move. If he can pull off a Smith or Gay level trade it would go a long way towards keeping Howard. With Lin and Howard/Bynum probably being All Stars and with the game here this year, we would be getting back on the NBA map way faster than anybody could've imagined.

The Smith play is not made from a winning stand point, its to get Howard to sign long term here.

Also Rudy Gay is terrible and is nearly impossible to have on a championship caliber team due to his play style and albatross salary.

There is not much else out there to be had. I think Lin/Smith/Howard plus the right role players and coach can have a chance at the chip.

lol... man, why even try to argue with this guy and the guys like "Dreamin'".

    Waste of time and effort.

They love being negative and always are.

If you can't tell the difference in the way cyberx (here on this board) and Mejia "throw stuff out there" compared to MOST of the wanna' be insiders and national media, you are just being close minded and refuse to "care" about it 'til it's done.

Of course no one has ever said either are 100% correct or don't make mistakes. Even Dave, that vouched for cyberx, said he's only right about 80% of the time.

These are two guys who have at least appeared to give SOME bit of info BEFORE it's "nationally" announced.

I'm pretty confident MOST here realize it's a likely a mixture of hearing a little something combined with logic and common sense.

Some of you guys respond as if people here are saying it's gospel and definite.

Wake up on the other side of the bed every now and then.

I've been playing with the trade machine and trying to anticipate Morey's "next move" too.

If Turkoglu isn't brought in, it's gonna' be hard to acquire Iguodala. (salary/basketball sense-wise)

I'm afraid our "wing type addition" may be settling for a Foye type player - at least initially ('til the trade deadline or next off season).

It's always fun to try to figure out what Morey might be looking at "next".

I kinda' thought he might have his eye on Dorrel Wright, but Philly snagged him up from GS.

We'll see, but I agree with you that there will be another move or two fairly quickly after (if) the Dwight deal happens.

Smith is almost certainly out of Atlanta next summer. He has been b****n about that franchise for the last 2 years. I half expect him in Houston this summer along with Howard.

Unfortunately, those salaries are way too far off.

I'd love to have either of those guys, but it's going to be very hard to match salaries to take back a guy making "bigger money" after/when/if the Dwight deal happens.

Why i want Bynum more than Howard.

    1) Dwight is a free agent, and has the freedom to sign with whom ever he wants next offseason.
    2) Some teams would go into the lux tax to sign a guy like Dwight Howard
    3) He appears not to want to stay in Houston
    4) While he would earn less by going somewhere else (assuming Houston has his bird rights), he'll do the cost-benifit analysis on whether the difference can be made up through his lucrative shoe deal, or additional marketing opportunities
    5) Some players, at this stage of their career, will take less money to play for a contender.
    6) If it doesn't work out with Dwight, it's not guaranteed we could trade him for Bynum as Bynum will also be a free agent next year.

    1) Bynum has made it known that he has interest in being in Houston long-term.
    2) Bynum doesn't have the lucarative shoe contract that Howard does, and would be much more persuaded by the salary difference with regard to bird-rights; ie., we'd have a much better chance at retaining him long-term.
    3) He's 25 (younger than Dwight), coming off an excellent year, and appears to be improving. He also fits much better into a rebuilding team because of his age.
    4) We'd likely have to give up a little less in a Bynum deal

Basically, i think Bynum would almost be a lock to resign if we obtained him through trade, but i personally think we'd have less than a 50% chance at retaining Howard. I also like the idea of building around Bynum, Lin, and our rookies. I want to rebuild and i want a long-term committment. I'm not interested in giving up valueable rebuilding chips for a guy who i think is more likely a rental.

If Bynum wants to be here, he can sign here next offseason.

I agree that it is going to be close to the above - I'm an Orlando fan and I think the above is very reasonable. Henny knows that Dwight is a game changer and I think Morey knows that as well.

If we remove the names you are talking about a couple mid-first round picks and a couple future first round picks for the best defensive player in the game and power house on offense - not polished by any means, but freakish athleticism.

Should be interesting - I think you'll enjoy having Dwight and I think he is going to settle in and stop being a pain.

I think Henny would like to get more - a third player and giving up 3 contracts, but I think Morey would also like to give less.

If Howard wasn't creating all this drama and he wasn't demanding a trade I think Houston would have to offer more to get him - it looks pretty fair.
I don't like Dwight anymore, but you put him on any team in the NBA and they will make the playoffs.
