I'm sorry the cap structure of Mavs is away better than the Lakers in the year of 13 -14. That allow a new super team to be formed. No to mention Mavs have one of the best coach and owner. If I was Howard and I had to choose it from the Mavs or Lakers. Mavs will win Lakers from a mile.

    No, that's really not it.

    It's really not.

It's this: If we land Dwight, it will be a REQUIREMENT that we put excellent, good-fit pieces around him.

This is not an option, it is a NECESSITY.

I don't think anyone would argue with that.

I also don't think that anyone would argue that whatever pieces we receive back from Orlando along with Dwight would meet those requirements.

The thing is, *we already have some of those vital pieces, on our roster already*.

    Lamb, Motiejunas & Parsons, specifically.

Those are EXACTLY the types of players we need to be placing around Dwight, along with an additional veteran such as Josh Smith or maybe Iguodala.

The problem is that giving away NECESSARY PIECES in order to get Dwight is a lateral move, albeit admittedly an easier one to rectify than getting the superstar.

You are right, you make the deal. But many people instinctively sense the '3-steps-forward, 2-steps-back' kind of move that would be.

We would be SO much forther ahead of the game if we can manage to get Dwight AND keep those three players as well.

No doubt Morey and Les know this.

Also, no doubt Hennigan knows this as well.

So it is going to be a game of chicken, who is going to blink first..

If Howard gets trade to the Rockets, there are only 2 places I think he will consider signing with: Houston/Dallas.

And even then, would Dallas be worth it? They aren't going to be a good team next year. Perhaps lottery bound. Is Dwight willing to further tarnish his reputation by screwing a 2nd orginization over by signing with a division rival? What would make Dallas more appealing than Houston? Dirk Nowitzki? The dude that's 35 years old and declining? I don't see it.

I think there's a good chance that we retain Dwight if we trade for him. If there wasn't a good chance, Morey would be smart and explore other options.

I totally agreed with you that Howard are is about 50% chance to resign with Howard. There are just people keeping saying that Howard will become a Lakers after his contract expires. I were just saying that If I was Howard would rather sign with the Mavs than the Lakers due to the coaching, ownership and cap space in the year of 13-14.

Both Lamb and Parsons are very good players, with potential to be more. But neither possesses a skill set that is unique. Even Parsons' intangibles are not unique. Morey could certainly locate similarly skilled players, he has shown this ability already.

Locating superstars like Dwight is another thing entirely. Everyone knows this; Hennigan, Morey, Les. If it only takes giving up 2 young players like Lamb & Parsons (plus picks & Martin) then you take that deal.

Then use your other assets to fit the right pieces around your superstar. I see no reason why Lin, White, Jones, Johnson, Asik could not complement Howard. Houston can get stretch shooters (which Parsons is not) elsewhere.

And this is coming from someone is holding out hope that we keep our golden 4 in the DH trade. Patterson, Forbes and Morris should be worth something to Orlando.

Superteam formed with which players? You really think CP3 is going to leave LAC? He won't. He's the only superstar unrestricted free agent for 2013. There's a lot of good players but nothing to make a "superteam".

Very unlikely, but it seems like everybody on the 08 Olympic team wants to team up together. If the Clippers have another disappointing Del Negro playoff exit, or Griffin's knee keeps acting up or doesn't allow him to be the same player, I could see CP3 wanting out.

I think Morey will most likely go after Harden next summer.

Atlanta could be a destination also.

Jsmoove/Horford/Teague/Lou + Dwight could do damage.

Howard hates Atlanta or so has been said. Doubt that scenario very much.

Having watched almost ZERO Atlanta basketball, can someone give the rundown on Josh Smith? What is so good about him, and how would he fit here?

Howard also wants nothing to do with Houston. If you think to plausible that he would stay in Houston, then you must consider Atlanta as a destination as well.
