People keep saying the only reason he opted in was because he didnt want to come to houston, while this is probably true, if we think about this in a deeper manner i think its better than 50% he resigns with us and heres why:

1.He opted back into his contract with ORLANDO, who he also wanted nothing to do with, because IMO he thought there was a far better chance that they would trade him than we would, its obvious to me MONEY is a huge factor in dwights mind

    2. Back then there was still a huge possibility that the nets would still acquire him, but today there is 0 chance of that happening.

3.Even if he came last year, it seemed as if we were strapped for cash giving him limited options to basically choose who he wanted to play with, that has all changed and we have become very flexible both cap wise and trading wise (rookies, picks, young talent) even after we trade for dwight...

Same here .. I think Dmo has a nice shot at being a superstar ... I'd like to get howard but only at the right price.. Dmo stays,Lamb stays . We hold the power ... orlando has no better options, even with a low ball offer ... If we miss on howard I'm not losing any sleep

Might tweak structure of offer, but you have to think we already assumed they wouldn't match when we made the offer to Asik. Wouldn't have made it, if it would keep us from getting Howard. I mean it was pretty obvious Asik was gonna be a Rocket from day 1.

I'm not bima, but yes you are correct. Only the team with his bird rights can sign him to the max 5 years with 7.5% raises. A team signing him in free agency or attempting a SnT can only offer 4 years with 4.5% raises. Bird rights are no longer transferable in SnT due to the new CBA.

MaxLuckan = 12 yr old fake insider. Amirite?

Too bad Houston already accounted for the Lin and Asik deals.

Yeah I know not in SnT but I thought I heard something about them not even transferring at the trade deadline starting this year. Maybe I am wrong.

This is what the magic want from us. Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, Terrence Jones, Toronto Pick, two first round picks, take on Turk,Jrich, Duhon, Q. Richardson. Just for D-12, but if Morey wants to do that am fine with it because we will be losing for the next 10 years when D-12 leaves just like he stated!

If we get Howard, I doubt the Lakers really can lure Howard from us a year after with their 40 year-old Steve Nash, 35 year-old Kobe Bryant and a 33 year-old Paul Gasol...

Also a good point. I think he's more interested in the market than he is in the players, but I'm sure he is thinking about titles as well, at least a little. Still a moot point when he can't get there without our help, anyway...

Add on to this, I just don't think Mike Brown is any better than Kevin McHale.

Not correct. The team Dwight ends the season with will own his bird rights, no matter what.

Ah, OK. Thanks. That will make the trade deadline a key time then I guess, if we do trade for Dwight.

If I was Howard, and I really wanted to win a title. I would rather go to Mavs...

To play with a 36 year old Dirk Nowitzki? I'm sure that will get Dwight many rings.
