I'd be alright with Bynum because as it's been pointed out before, his knees held up fine this year playing in a compressed season. Dwight isn't even running yet. I'd love to have Dwight, I'm not diminishing that at all, but Bynum is not a bad option. At All.

True. I'd say it is very telling that L.A. is doing everything it can to get Dwight though. Not in terms of them knowing something about Bynum's knees that we don't, but in the sense of the difference in talent between Bynum and Howard. Not a bad option at all, but certainly a big difference between option "A" and option "B".

Also, I'm not ok with helping the Lakers get the best center in the league in his prime..... again.

Like I said im all for Dwight but im not trading both Lamb/Parsons for him, they can have 1 but not both.

Martin/Lamb/Jones/Tor pick for Dwight/Jrich/Duhon is enough take it or leave it.

for bad assets, richardson and turkoglu can actually be OK for the team in the short term. dwight is gonna need veteran bridge guys while whatever young players we have left develop. and we'll desperately need perimeter help, since lamb has got to be on top of orlando's wish list right now, given Nicholson and O'Quinn's strong summer league play.

richardson's salary isn't all that awful, and turkoglu's guaranteed money gets slashed in half after this year. not to mention the fact that a package with the two of them will be cheaper (in term of players and picks) than a package without them.

    Forget scoring and defensive stats.

Dwight, 8 years (20) games missed
Injury - common for basketball players and common to recover from

Bynum, (7) years (130) games missed (I'm not counting the first year games as I am too lazy to look at how many he was suited up for.
Injury - known to get consistantly worse, not better.

So Bynum will be just fine as long as we keep him averaging 26 games off a season? Cuz he has only averaged 56 games a year for his career.

    Not ok for me.

really seems like wishful thinking. to my mind, orlando wants to be as bad as possible this year. meaning they probably don't want more developed players like ppat or parsons. i could see martin/lamb/motiejunas/toronto pick for dwight/jrich/turkoglu.

Agree a 100%... patellar dislocations are known to recur...The last thing I really want to see is a repeat of "superstars"(using the word loosely in regards to Bynum) and recurring injuries...As Houstonians...I really hope people understood that thru the Yao and Tmac Era...without your stars...your just not that good...I dont want to take another gamble on a player that already has a history and is at an extremely high risk to reinjure the knee...just IMHO

You have to realize that the Rockets are not in any pressure to pull or make a significant deal...They would love to have Dwight but its going to be on their terms...not ORL's...The Rockets are more than content with the players and their future...and they are not looking to throw the two players with the highest upside for nothing...Its lamb or Motie...not both...and that is a guarantee...

    Thanks.

But we will still retain his Bird rights so only we can give him the 5 year max money right?

If so - we can we do a sign and trade at that point?

Basically - I'm interested in knowing whether or not his Bird rights have any value even if he doesn't want to play for us. That is - would he purely be a one year rental - or could we extract some value.

For example, we could make a deal with Nets next year and give them a signed Dwight and get Lopez (+ Humpries who would be entering his last year + draft pick) in return.

I would hate to lose assets over a pure "one year rental". However, if in a worst case scenario, we could still get Brook Lopez next year then it wouldn't be so bad. Dwight wants to play for Brooklyn anyways so I guess he would be amenable to such an agreement and the Nets can't just outright sign him.

Is there any way in the NBA to structure a deal in the NBA like th PTBNL in baseball? By that, I mean structuring a deal so that if certain milestones are met (like Dwight resigning in Houston) then additional compensation options come into play?

OKC 3-way wouldn't be a bad idea if possible.

hou trades- Martin, Lamb, Jones, 2nd rd ers, Dallas pick, Harrelson
    Get- Harden, JRichardson, Duhon,

    OKC trades- Harden, Ibaka, Perkins
    Get- Howard, TJones, Harrelson

    Orl trades- Howard, bad contracts
Get- Martin, Lamb, Ibaka, 2nd rders, Perkins, Dallas pick

    Lin/Duhon/Livingston
    Harden/Jrich
    Parsons/White/Morris
    Ppat/Dmo/

If it came down to Lamb or Parsons I'd trade Parsons but knowing the Rockets they would trade Lamb and Orlando would want Lamb over Parsons. Parsons vs Lamb will be no different then Battier vs Rudy Gay. After hearing Morey on 610 talking to Josh Innes I realize the way Morey thinks is too book smart where as natural talent and ability/stardom can be right in front of his eyes and he wouldn't notice until another team/franchise shows him.

Too much for a one season rental...

Martin (expiring), Morris and plus whatever unguaranteed contracts we have
2 second rounders (via Knicks), 1st round pick (via Dal) and plus whatever outrageous contracts we have to take back!

Reasonable for a rental maybe just maybe the Toronto pick to sweeten and and get it done...but worth giving up our whole future :)

They can take it or leave it

Last Season Bynum Started 60 of the 66 games. They were playing many more games than normal in a week. He had the Kobe surgery in Germany last offseason and it seems to have paid off. His knees are fine. And again, I reiterate. Dwight isn't even to the point where he can run. How are you feeling so much better about Dwight right now? Because I sure as heck do not.
