I agree CP3 is the better point guard but to call Lin
    a scrub is asinine!
Yes at times Lin looks completely
lost but he also has his moments and that is to be
expected from a player of his age with less than year
on a new team. I don't think he is ever going to fill the
shoes that some members on this forum want him to fill.
It's a shame that he polarizes people everywhere he goes.

    Defense, deep bench, better coach.

We have a couple years to make that happen.

A star PF like Love would be perfect. But there isn't one in the market this summer.

My theory, and Morey's I believe, is that if you can upgrade at a position, you do it.

But CP3 won't come here IMO.

Apparently the Rockets are confident that they can bring Howard to Houston this summer, they think he wants to come here. If yes, you do it.

Asik then becomes an amazing trade chip, which can be used to get someone like Love or another stud PF.

Point guard is not our biggest need  You're probably a LOH if you think that. Stop being ridiculous.

Power forward is obviously still our weakest position, although D-Mo is looking promising and T-Rob has good potential as well.

That said, of course if you could get CP3, you would do it. But he's already basically stated outright he plans to re-sign with the Clippers, so he's out of the picture.

The best case possibility for the team in the offseason is still that the Lakers miss the playoffs and Dwight walks to Houston. Not likely, but at least it's in the realm of what is possible.

Barring that, I suspect Morey will sign a bench player or two on expiring deals and otherwise stand pat.

This is not a "HATE LIN THREAD". It's a "who is worth the money and a spot above our current player in FA thread". ( and that's if anybody). So chill out!! You guys are funny. have an opinion, but speak logically( not emotionally).

Besides that...... I heard cp3 and harden both dominate ball handlers( could cause problems) good point and a big risk( but if he wants to come, TAKE HIM)

"Keep but work on bench"........ I hear you, but I think we need another impact starter( hopefully it will be out of the guys we already have, that would be nice) but with the money rockets will have, why not try to just go buy "a sure thing"(If such thing)

We got a good squad and some money!!! How do we use it to maximize our team?

More like Asik will make Chris Paul look like Cliff Paul....until he can get better grips on some of the passes.

Power Forward is our biggest weakness, but we can only get a current "superstar"-level player at the Point Guard/Center positions. I would be more inclined to shoot for Dwight Howard, simply because Howard's injury issues are less of a concern than they are with Chris Paul, there are no really attractive free agent Power Forwards, and a 7-foot defensive juggernaut like Omer Asik has more trade value than Jeremy Lin.

Paul no doubt. Lin's pretty competent, but Paul would take this team to another level.

Paul and Howard would be big upgrades. But biggest need is still PF, bench, and defense. Net gain from upgrading the latter three would be bigger than a Lin or Asik upgrade imo.

As good as Asik has been on D i think most here still underrates his defense.

Also what has Dmo and TRob proven in three games? Nothing to me. Certainly less than Asik and Lin in 60 games. The grass is always greener with some people on this board.

Rockets don't need Howard or Paul as they already have very useable players in Asik and Lin. What they need is a proven 4 spot guy that can block, defend, and post up better. We know Rockets can score, without much contribution, from this spot. However, a solid defender at this spot is the key for this team.

Lin/Paul - We know on good nights, Lin's numbers are just as good as CP3's on his good nights. The key is for Lin to get more of those nights (more consistent).

Asik/Howard - Howard does have the offensive advantage and shot blocking, but a proven 4 as discussed above with allevaite much of this. Howard's FT is always a liability.

I'd say Dwight simply because Asik's more tradeable than Lin.

Show how much some of the people know about basketball. People think having two elite ball-handlers are a good thing on a team. Yup, there's two basketballs going around alright.

It's too bad that the top free agents are in the spots that we do not "REALLY" want mainly PG and C. What we need is a high caliber player playing the PF position or an upgrade to Chandler Parson (yes, Chandler is great but also can be very inconsistent). He's not super athletic. He's a streak shooter. IF we get Howard, then we push Asik to the bench which i DO NOT like. Howard sucks at FREE THROWS is a concern and his lack of competitiveness and smiling...i hated it. Paul is obviously an upgrade over Lin but i think you want to build your team w/ a big talented man inside.

That's the thing...If we get Howard, then teams line up to trade us that missing-piece-PF for Asik at 8.3MM a year.

If it were Paul instead, then Lin is a much less tradeable player considering his contract-to-production ratio...also C is a much more valuable position than PG.

I just don't think we need another PF. Between DMo and Robinson I think we are set at that position. Of the potential max FA's, the only one I'd want is Howard, and that's risky but since we'd be able to keep Asik as insurance it wouldn't be too bad.

CP3 would win us a championship, but Harden would need to play off the ball and I'm not sure if he is up for that.

I rather take the hard path with Asik, Parsons, Lin, Robinson, D-Mo and Harden than the easy one with CP, Howard and Harden ...

I just like the idea of having a young talented team that is developing to a great team .....

It's so much fun to see this young team.

I don't think we need a super star like that. We need a serg ibaka/Tyson chandler type. And a dominant back to the basket pf like laMarcus Aldridge. Hell all we need is Hakeem in his prime to handle all that. I honestly thought Scola woulda been a perfect fit for this team. Especially with Garcia spreading the floor now. Post Scola and spot up our shooters on the perimeter. One one one in the post it won't be as pretty as Hakeem but against 80% of pf's in the league Scola is going to put the ball in the hoop. Asik would make up for his lack of rebounding. Only problem is he was a defensive liability. $ for $ though I thought he was a bargain.

It's funny how people are so threatened by Chris Paul and he's not even on the team. Anyways I would obviously love to have him here over Howard however if we don't get either of them I would be ok with it . We have players that can improve if we actually keep them.

never fails. All the people against our current pg will always say pg is our biggest need. It's becoming annoying makes me want to head stomp all of them. It's the same knee jerk chat and gameday thread posters..

Cpflop is not going to leave l.a. Our biggest need right now is solidifying our bench. I would love an oj mayo(at the price dallas acquired him) coming off the bench for us. This team can grow into something special with experience alone.
