Dwight puts up big numbers but isn't a go to option. Great rebounder and ok defender. Al jefferson is a huge post up threat and can take over games similar to Aldridge last night. Who wld you rather have? Imho a guy like Jefferson is more effective come playoff time... And Dwight isn't Dwight from 3 years ago.
what Dwight lacks offenssively compared to big al big al lacks defensively compared to dwight /thread
Not really, do you watch Charlotte? Although rare nowadays, big guys with a strong offensive game are an x factor. Unless you can defend like prime deke, that anchor role isn't as effective as of uses to be
This is ridiculous. I don't like Howard at all but no way in hell I would want Big Al over Dwight. We would give up 150 points a game if Big Al and Harden were on the same team.
Wait and hold the phone!! Are you saying Dwight has a chance at signing with the Rockets???!!! No way that is pipe dream
When you combine those two, you get the Dream. But DH >>>> Big al, especially for our team. We have 122 problem last night and offense isn't one.
Its ridiculous how knee jerk the basketball world is. Lets put things in context with these facts in mind- -He's not a good defender -He has every play run for him offensively -He's had major injuries throughout his career -He was on really talented teams that went nowhere I dont want to take anything away from the great year that Big Al had, but people need to smack themselves in the face if they voted for Big Al here, or if any NBA media idiot votes for Big Al 1st or 2nd team over Dwight.
Al Jefferson is arguably the best post player in the league, and he shoots 50% from the field. What's wrong with him being the focal point on offense? You're exaggerating his injury history. Can you name some of the players from these really talented teams?
Don't need more offense on this team we need more defense. Subtracting Dwight and adding big Al wouldn't make our team better.
Yeah except Dwight isn't god awful at offense. He's not Jefferson, but Dwight's offense is wayyyy better than Jefferson's defense.
Horrible thread. Please make an argument from statistics that Jefferson is better than Howard or that Dwight has dropped off over the past 3 years. Howard (10-11 & 13-14) v. Hate to bring reality to these conversations but did any of you watch Big Al this season? He's far from a defensive Adonis, but he's far more competent than any of you are suggesting.
Whoops--screwed up the 2nd table. Man, this team's defense would be terrible if you replaced Howard with Jefferson, unless Asik could start alongside him. Howard's impact on defense is still out of this world. It's hard to notice when you have an Asik backing him up since there's little dropoff. But Asik is also a game changer. Howard makes an impact every night on defense. If Jefferson gets off to a slow start or cant find a rhythm on offense, you're in trouble.
Al Jefferson is criminally underrated on clutchfans. Before we acquired Dwight, it was laughable how many people wanted Josh Smith over Al Jefferson.
