I prefer Howard play every game. We aren't like the Spurs who know how to play several ways. Our team needs consistency. And that starts with consistent rotations. When Howard misses games, we are a different team. imso, we need to play more together, the way we want to in the Playoffs.

We don't have the luxury of learning to play with multiple rotations that beg for different plays styles, until we learn first to play with our Playoff rotation.

I think we all would love Dwight to play every game and have no concern for possible injury or recovery from playing injured in the WCF, but it's a process

It would be nice to get some blowouts or better bench play so our starters can play fewer minutes

    "Dwight should focus on rebounding".

Doesn't recognize he has an career-high o-board rebounding rate.

Standard practice? LOL WTF you talkin bout Willis? There is no STANDARD practice - this is all new this year.

Injured in the WCF? You mean when Dwight announced that he was actually injured ala TMac - you actually believe that he was SERIOUSLY injured?

Man, kids these days full for WEAK ASSED excuses far too much, players play through MINOR injuries all the time have forever - Dwight is not injured, he is just not the same player as he was now that he is 30.

And, Captain obvious - the point of this tread was about him not being elite anymore - which he is not.

I personally hope he opts out - rather than tie up 20m in an aging, declining part time player.

Thanks kid, I will keep that in mind, now go get me a juice box...I am thirsty!

It's not even debatable that Dwight is no longer elite. are there ppl really questining that

he's not elite and not worth $20m, assuming we need that money to spend on someting else to be a serious contender. Ideally we can imorove from within, and dont need to spend max on a free agent -- I'm looking at you DMo, Lawson, Capela and team defense and morey to get us better role playing shooters

I think $20 mil for one year is a good deal for Dwight considering the higher salary cap and what some players are getting.

I mean Hibbert is getting $15.5 mil. Bogut gets $14 mil.

Now if we're talking about an extension where he's getting $30 mil at the age of 35 no way.

But the best scenario is he opts in and we get one more year of him rather than having to resign him to a multi year contract.

He'll opt out and we will offer him something that preserves our flexibility most likely

He may no longer be an elite player, but he still shows flashes of it. Which is a great sign for things to come.

Overall, he's still a pretty darn good player on the court and is a great person that does a lot for this community off the court.

I hope he retires a Rocket.

except, Dwight won't accept a 1 year deal.

Why would he when there will be plenty of teams trying to get to the salary floor and Dwight is still a marketable player. He'll be what almost 31 the start of next season.

Right he won't. We were just talking about whether him opting out is good for us.

What will be good for us is Harden working on being a teammate that others of his caliber will want to play with.

If we're talking about contingencies and mulling over letting our second best player walking away for nothing...

just making this up but i feel like dwight will be open to a hometown discount for htown, depending on how the season plays out and how big of a discount. but if hes healthy, opting in would be too risky from his point of view since he would surely be able to secure a long term contract

Dwight's a good dude. God bless him he's doing his best. Glad he's on our team. This year is our year, I pray the adversity early in this season turns into the grit we need for the playoffs. Stay strong Dwight and keep your faith up!

For this season: he needs to play every game and less on back to backs. If he could average 22-26 minutes for the regular season so we could have a fresher Dwight for the playoffs. Start Capela on back to backs and platoon the center spot with Dwight/Capela/DMo.

    Agreed.

Its hard, you kind of forget when you hear 20 million... You think Kobe, Lebron, Garnett etc

But its 2015, and 20 million is now Brook Lopez, Dragic... Players that have never made an all-star game are getting 20 million...

Howard easily deserves 20 mill per... I mean do you think Howard wants to sign the same contract Parsons did 2 seasons ago? Be making the same as Hibbert, Wesly Matthews...

Superstars are now with 30 million, allstars 25, borderline star 20, and good role players 15 etc... Its a new age.

I'd be good with signing Howard to something like a 4 years declining 90 mill deal or something similar, with a option for the last year if we are lucky.

Being elite doesn't mean other elite players want to play with you especially if your known style is dominating the ball for most of the possession and killing team play.

He's an elite rebounder and elite defensive center. He never really been an elite scorer.

2 out 3 spells ELITE to me ladies and gentlemen.
