I don’t agree with boards and defense first. Asik was 2nd best rebounder in the league (mins based) and asik is arguably is on the same level as defense goes (besides the shot blocking) so to say offense was last I dont think morey spent 22 mill a season for rebounding and defense Not taking anything from D-H he is a upgrade all around & im happy to have have here.
if my memory is correct, the first game of a playoff series vs blazers (???). yao destroyed them since they put one guy on him only. 2nd game, they had no choice but double teamed him to stop yao and let other rox players to beat them. don't underestimate PRESENCE although it can't be measured with #s.
Guys it's the preseason... Whooooooo caresssssss ? Dwight's a 10 year vet he'll be fine during the regular season. Don't you guys want him to practice moves in the preseason, when the results don't matter? He will be DOMINANT this year you can bank on it
I get what you saying but Asik is not a defensive force. He doesn't block shots nor alters many. Great rebounder and position player on D. We already know about his offense. I'm just saying I'm not expecting Howard to carry the load on offense with great post moves. He will have games where his shots fall, but for the most part we just need him to draw defensive attn in the paint to open the floor for the scorers and shooters we have. So to overly critique his post moves up to this point is a waste of a thread. The other guys still learning to play with him.
Howard was not on the team last year. Harden was. McHale has said they have not put in plays for Howard yet. There is no basis for looking at Howard's performance without considering his teammates. He needs to receive passes from teammates, have guys to pass to, etc. Think team.
What I've seen is harden scoring a lot easier....Howard is drawing so much attention its crazy. When the season starts I fully expect more pick and role and his stats to be just where it needs to be. His defence and prescence have been awesome.
Agreed. 4 games that are little more than scrimmages with coaches experimenting with player rotations and more importantly Dwight is still learning how to play with his new team and vice versa.
I've already voiced my opinion about how I think his offensive game needs some improvement, but bigger picture wise his impact is huge. Just his presence alone makes us a top 10 team. Offensively, he demands so much attention from the defense that it allows our spacing to be better. Defensively, he changes the entire way the other team looks to score. He's like a tremendous decoy.
That statement is down right ridiculous. He might take over or he might not or it may be their team together. Whatever the case may be, it hasn't happened yet. Besides we've got to figure out the roster first. When the season starts the rotation will be determined & that rotation will learn how to play together. This is going to be a long learning process that could go into the playoffs.
he has been doing about what i expected his offensive game is very raw and we had Asik last year whom is a good defender so its not liked we sucked defensively at center last year dwight is a taller Bo Outlaw
Honestly, he is playing like how he played as a Laker, good but not best-center good. I was hoping to see the Orlando Dwight but I guess that's a bit far-fetched.
People call "midseason form" that for a reason. It will take a while for the team to consistently be at its best. The good thing is that the team is already looking pretty good and is unlikely to get off to such a slow start that it costs them dearly in the final standings. Some teams are dealing with way bigger problems (like OKC missing Westbrook).
