Howard hasn't gotten any hate for his indecision. Come on man.

It seems that the Magic told Dwight something like the following:

The best offer we got is from a 'rental team' (Houston), so we are trading you there unless you opt in because otherwise, we can't risk losing you at the end of the season for nothing. However if you opt in, we'll see how the season plays out and if you still want to get traded to Brooklyn, we'll revisit that trade.

There may or may not be a specific promise to actually trade Dwight Howard to Brooklyn (and as to what players Orlando will accept). However, I highly doubt that such an "under the table" agreement is any more enforceable than an "under the table agreement" that if a player takes a lower salary now, the team will overpay him in the next contract (just ask Kevin McHale). Also, I kind of doubt the promise was made-- otherwise, wouldn't Dwight's agent tell the Nets about it and, if so, why the hell did they trade one of their best trade chips, a lotto pick, for Gerald Wallace (unless the Magic said they wanted Gerald Wallace in return for a trade)?

What planet are you living on?

Do you really think people are holding Dwight Howard to a level of respect?

Every single player in the NBA gets a degree of HATE. Yao was a non-rebouding stiff p***y, Tim Duncan a boring on-court whiner, Dirk a flopping wuss, Pau Gasol a softy, these are the GOOD guys in the league. Durant's gonna get his, too. Remember when D Wade was the "anti-Kobe"?

Trying to pick out who's more or less deserving of bashing is really splitting hairs.

I seriously doubt they told Dwight that. There really was no need to. They had a trade with the Rox lined up. And they were gonna trade him here if he didn't opt in. And even if they did say they would reconsider a trade to Brooklyn following the season, that is no guarantee they would trade him to Brooklyn anyways.

This is typical stuff really. Dwight is the second best player in the NBA and this move is about big time money. Dwight wants free agency so he can choose his destination and he wants all the money. His agent has tried every ploy. If the NBPA takes up this complaint, it will go absolutely nowhere. There's no way Orlando made a commitment to trade him to Brooklyn.

Let's get Bynum. I'm over Dwight at this point. At least Bynum can hit a free throw.

lebron's hate all comes from the tv special, which always seemed like it was ignorance in overdrive moreso than anything.

He actually handled free agency as well as anyone up to that point.

I never really had a problem with players demanding a trade but this trade me here and here only is outrageous.

Personally I hope Magic hold on to him or trade him to Toronto or something

I completely disagree for the most part Yao, Duncan, Dirk, and Pau have never been disliked by a large group of people inside and outside of NBA viewing circles.

LeBron was legitimately hated, so was Kobe Bryant during the incident in Colorado.

Seriously. If I'm the Orlando GM I just block DH's and DH's agent's cell phone numbers for the next year. DH re-upped, simple as that. If he wanted to go to Brooklyn, he had the opportunity. He's made it clear he won't stay in Orlando after this next year, so it really doesn't matter how they treat him.

I've turned over a new leaf and am trying to respect you more since you paid your debt and have calmed down with the Lebron stuff but

Howard has gotten plenty of hate on here. He isnt held to the same standard as Lebron (best players in the league) so it may seem a little subdued compared to Lebron.

Dwight Howard contacted the NBPA last week. He wants the union to facilitate a trade to Brooklyn or nullify his opt-in: http://tinyurl.com/7h3dyxl

    This is a joke..

Dwight Howard has slam-dunked himself through the rim and simultaneously given himself a facial. Trying to blame the Magic for his own choke-job decision. SMH.

Now we have to wait and see if the NBPA will soil itself by attempting legal action. My guess is they won't.

There's a rumor going around that Dwight and Jameer got into a brawl a few months ago.

If LeBron hadn't had that TV show, he would have gotten just as much hate. People use that as an excuse. That TV show also sent millions of dollars to charity. ESPN pushed for it, LeBron got sucked in to that.

But you're right, other than the decision, LeBron handled free agency perfectly.

SacTown, this is what you're saying:

"other than the BIG GIGANTIC ELEPHANT in the room, everything's normal! ^___^"
