Haven't read through the thread but what if the Nets buyout Howard and he goes to the Warriors? I doubt they'd want him but who knows.
I know the Nets are the laughing stock of the NBA for gifting Boston Brown, Tatum, and basically what amounts to Kyrie... But I must say I'm impressed by the moves Nets new GM Sean Marks has made with his hands tied and no picks. Flipping Mozgov for Dwight and saving $17 million in the process is a pretty solid move. That roster cap looks very lean and the Nets could have a good rebuild starting next year when they have all their picks and a ton of cap room to work with. I'm a big fan of smart GMs building the right way so kudos to Marks and the Nets.
Dwight will not even be able to be that vet who has “good locker room vet presence.” I guess it could be worse... win two Finals MVP’s in a row and still no one likes or respects you.
Yeah marks has done as good as a job as one could hope if your a nets fan. People like to brush him off, like of course you take on bad contracts for picks and blah blah blah. But the truth is not only has he gotten the roster extremely flexible and added a bunch of picks they otherwise didn’t have. But he’s been pretty successful with the picks he has made. Nothing spectacular, when you drafting late you can’t expect miracles, but has gotten solid production with potential. He’s known for obtaining Russell, and with no future that def gave hope, but players like Allen, Lavert, Rondae, Dinwiddie and even Harris who have been serviceable nice young pieces. He also turned Carrol into what will likely be a valuable trade asset. Kudos for taking the worst job and turning it around rather quickly.
Just to be clear, if wasn't obvious already, they have to renounce Dwight's Bird Rights in the summer to realize that capspace. So the trade really is Mozgov+Two 2nd Pick for an expiring to create $17m in future capspace (2019). This has nothing to do with Dwight, other than being an expiring who is somewhat usable for one season, albeit he pisses off his lockerroom everywhere he goes. I view it identical to moving Ryan. Just like Mozgov, we have to attach picks to him. Kinda proves it will take a FRP + 2nd (at least) to move Ryan. [EDIT] Possible BKN can flip Howard again, as an expiring at the deadline, maybe to get a 2nd rounder back.
they are trying to see who has been traded to more teams, lin or dwight howard at least lin has fans even though they are worthless suckers
Nope but do the deal then force him to take a team friendly buyout to play for a new contract. That or just Joakim Noah his ass and be thankful you wiped your hands clean of Ryno’s contract.
I used to defend Howard during that horrendous 2015-16 season. I even started questioning whether keeping Harden instead was the right move. Boy was I an idiot. Howard completely kills locker rooms.
I don’t know, but I’ve been telling anyone who’ll listen for years that Great Satan’s dynasty was set in motion when he chose us over them in free agency. They wanted Dwight. That’s how lucky they are.
Basically this kind of sh**. Players view him as phony and don't trust guys that smile in your face and then talk behind your back (two-faced). He would probably be best suited to play on a team like the Kings. No true leadership or direction with a bunch of young minds that can be easily influenced. Not that he needs to be there or will. Just that he would have his best chance at sticking on a team like that, since he's already done Atlanta.
