We have no more room for 2 or 3 picks to even get playing time.......might as well take a shot at Dwight.

you're wrong. not everyone here cares about the Rockets. some of them are obvious.

the Rockets didn't look to build around Tracy McGrady, they needed someone to compliment Yao Ming.

You rent him and maybe you get lucky that he stays or others join in.

This situation is somewhat similar to Tracy, but not really. Dwight has proven that he could take a team to the NBA Finals.

    That is a HUGE difference.

Dwight has proven he can take a team to the Finals....but it was once.....
It took 3 final appearances for Lebron, the best player to win it all.
So there has to be a reason we should get lucky isn't it?

Lebron had his Superfriends, so can we get Deron and or another star is more interesting to watch.....just to be realistic ;)

Herniated disc in his lower back. While you never want a disc issue, you want it in the lower back as opposed to anything near the neck. With a lower back herniated disc all you need is rest and exercise to rehab it. It is very rare to perform surgery on it so that is always a plus. It really is just a matter of time and patience with this type of issue and I would be surprised if he weren't ready for the upcoming season.

Also with an athlete like Howard who is in such great physical shape that is only going to help in him maintaining his health as it is a muscle injury and with muscle's you can strengthen them with exercise which judging by Howard's physique is right up his alley.

No........Tracy WANTED to come here because Yao was a budding all-star.

Dwight PICK UP HIS OPTION because he wanted no part of this team.

Dwight views this team as a cancer not the other way around.

Does it all even really matter? I mean at the end of the day, last I checked we were still coached by Kevin McHale.

Thanks for the reply, and I sincerely hope you are right about that. As someone, however, who had a herniated disc in their lower back (L5/S1) that required surgery (titanium screws and everything), which was followed by chronic pain that I still deal with each day, you can probably see why I might have a concern. I'm not remotely the athlete and physical specimem Dwight is, of course, and haven't been in great shape in years, so I have an open mind about the subject. I'm just concerned. I'd really like to get a superstar with a negligible injury history, considering our own history of injured superstars over the last decade, but maybe Houston just can't manage that now, and our owner seems dead set against clearing the decks and starting over. Do we have a choice if this possibility is real?

That could be the difference. From what I read surgery is rare. So that might be why the pain endured in your case. I also read that rehab is key in strengthening the muscle around the disc and that's why I'm confident that Howard will bounce back because I haven't seen an NBA player more into physical fitness then him.

what would he fail? its generally for undisclosed ailments, if you traded for him after having surgery on a disc hernia, its not like you don't know about it.
